Excellent video. I have one of those.manual. But the gear leaver is stiff, back and forth. Does anyone know how to fix it. The car is running like a beast otherwise 😂
JUST FOUND YOUR CHANNEL GREAT , HAVE SUB AND LIKED I HAVE A 1960 MORRIS MINOR 1098 , 63,000 ON CLOCK , HAVE A GARRAGE SO I CAN WOTK ON HER , BUT NO POWER , HAS TO BE BATTERY POWERD , ITS A PAIN , YEAH SHOUT OUT FOR E S M GREAT PEOPLE THOMAS
Thanks. The main limiting factor in my work is really the weather, available daylight, and lack of space. Tools can be bought, dry days not so much. I seem to be able to summon rain just by pressing record on my smartphone.
Progress yes. Videos, unfortunately no. Main issue is having space/time/weather to film. I've been desperately trying to find myself a workshop this past year so I can film indoors, but it's not come together yet.
Those brackets look great! Awesome job 👍 I'm trying to figure out if I fix the old seats I have, but recently got some electric leather seats donated to the cause, they are a little wide, weigh a ton etc. Trying to figure out if I should buy a mig setup and make my own brackets vs go to a fabricator.
Depends on whether or not you plan to expand your abilities and do more metal-working/welding in the future. If you just want to put in a pair of seats, then getting a fabricator to make the brackets will be much more cost and time efficient. Otherwise, if you want to take up welding, do invest. It's a very valuable skill.
Brackets done! Just wanted to ask whether you're planning to put in 3 point belts or original style lap belts? About to install my brackets but want to leave space for the seatbelt reel.
"Waisting money on ancient cars.." mate you just killed my energy there!! 😭😅😂 I'm trying buy this Morris Isis and mate I want upgrade the engine as well but whew!! Nice videos ;)
My Moggy 🏴 is needing TLC and I am an absolute beginner (also have adhd) you have no idea how absolutely needed this video was needed! Haynes manual tends to slide down the page while I'm reading, so this simpler version of the wiring is literally a god send!
just came over from IDAC, after I saw you chatting with Steph. Great job you are doing here. I'm watching with much interest, as your car is quite similar to my '58 2 door, and you appear to be after the same sort of build. Keep up the good work!
Hello! I’m driving the same for a few years now and i enjoy it a lot. Do you have some advice for me for how to replace a light bulb on the front lights more easily though? 😢
I honestly don’t know why you have gone to so much trouble to modify your braking system? I had a 1959/60 Morris 1000 with the original braking system with the existing set up but I install a PBR vacuum braking system that stopped my little Morris on a six pence! The engine got rebored out to equivalent to a 1100 cc with domed pistons. I also changed the cam shaft & fitted a Cooper S 3/4 race cam. Ported the inlet & exhaust in the head & fitted a free flow exhaust manifold! The engine was quite lumpy at idle. But at full throttle it went like the clappers. Worst thing I ever did was sell it to a friend of my ex wife’s friend who gave it to her son who wrote the car off because it had too much power that he couldn’t control !
1. After years of collecting parts, I had all the pieces to do it. 2. Marina pedal box installations used to be commonplace, but virtually all info about them now online has been lost. Now there's this video for people to reference. 3. I don't like external servo systems. They are messy and take up more space than necessary. 4. The original 8 inch drums are not great for fast driving. It doesn't matter how much you boost them, they fade and become inconsistent. Boosting them is arguably worse, since it reduces your ability to modulate the brake pedal and reduce heat. The Escort disc brake system I'm going to install in conjunction with this MX-5 master will be superior in just about every way. The better the brakes are, the later you can brake, which means more time on throttle, and makes the car faster. 5. This system is dual circuit, and therefore safer. 6. This engine will be replaced at some point in the future with a much faster one, probably a twin cam. Getting the brakes squared away now is expedient. 7. I've not seen anyone else use an MX-5 master with Ford discs, so doing something different is nice. 8. I prefer the top-hinging pedals. 9. I'm a tinkerer. If I see an opportunity to improve something. I'll usually take it. Ultimately, I'm doing it because I can. Being able to out-brake the young scallywags in their Corsas and Fiestas will also be fun. I hope that answers your question.
🍁Hello ~ you two, I subscribed to your great videos because I was just given a 1995 940 S Turbo Sedan and I am a “newbie” with car maintenance. ? I have a question concerning reading the oil dipstick: there’s no notches or writing to let me know how much oil it needs ? I want to avoid killing my car without adequate oil ! Thank you so much for the great video ! 🍁 Happy Autumn from Downers Grove, Illinois ! ~ Nellie
There's got to be some marks on it surely? I've never seen a dipstick without them. They can sometimes be very hard to see. Take the dipstick out and clean the end of it thoroughly, and then see if you can see any marks. If they're very faint you can try and scratch a new "full" marker into the metal with a sharp point.
I've never really been a fan of rivets or nutserts. Besides, when you're sitting there with a welder and a bag of 100 M8 nuts, it just becomes the logical thing to do. As for the vacuum fitting, I thought about that, but the original carb will be used for literally 100 miles or so of running in, then will be removed. The original manifold and carb will be a lot more saleable if there isn't a hole in it.
On a Mini that's right, but this is the correct orientation for a RWD gearbox. I bled the last of the air out off camera with someone to open the bleed nipple, and it only took a couple of goes to get the last of the air out, since it's such a short system. Works a charm :)
Thank you. To be honest, usually the wipers on moggies work ok (just), but the original motor completely broke and the cost of getting a wiper motor refurbished is ridiculous. There are upgrades available using Triumph or Mini parts I think, but they're likely to be equally cack.
I thought the seat mounts look pretty good.. Some people will go on about they don't look wright.. But they are not the one that has the car.. You will do a fantastic job of your minor.. Good luck with all that you do to your little car..
Useful video, thanks. I wouldn't necessarily recommend heaving on the driveshaft like that to get it out of the gearbox though - I did that on a Volvo I once owned and managed to pull the inner CV joint apart, and had a right war trying to get it back together again.
A light pull is usually enough to get them out in my experience. However these had clearly never been out before and were very tight in the gearbox, hence having to use the pry bar.
hello , could you give me the exact measurements of the holes of the wing kouki please, even only from the joint of your to the base of the wing? I would like to mount mine correctly please please please lol
So i have a 1967 mustang coupe that’s running the same thing but my fan cuts out so there’s a short somewhere? And how can i hard wire it to turn on by itself when the car turns on?
There's no way I can fully diagnose the problem for you from here. If you want the fan on all the time, just wire the power feed to the ignition barrel so it comes on with the key. Run through the wires for the fan and make sure they're not shorting out somewhere. Make sure the fan has a good ground connection to the body as well. Further than that, you'll have to get help directly.
