Thanks for posting this. When one is working the race, it's easy to miss out on the fun! You got some great footage, except for the woman with the goofy smile.
If it is a condensate well it is probably a mixture of many gaseous products; Everything from methane down to butane, propane and isobutane. Usually wellheads take this mixture and pipe it off to a small plant that separates out the gases. You can even have a 'sour' well that has a bit of hydrogen sulphide (rotten eggs smell). Before it is processed it is a witches brew of lighter ends and there may even be some natural gasolines (mostly in liquid form, may contain hexane, heptane, octane) that come along with it. If it is a sour well then they are fighting corrosion in the combustion chamber as well. Pure gas wells do not need a walking-beam-arm type pump to get product out of the ground
Seems to be a bit draggy on the downstroke. I have long wondered how well balanced engine-driven pumps need to be. Apparently it's not critical. Near where I live there are some electric ones. Those are Definitely pretty well balanced. One of the most attractive industrial sounds is the whine of a 3 phase motor.
Just came across your channel and subscribed. I want to build and rapair engines soon on my channel “Rusty inventions “ just love seeing other people doing it.
I live on the east coast so these things are very foreign to me. Are these protected at all? You can literally drive up to these and not be trespassing? How do the companies stop vandalism etc?
Wells closer to town or busy roads are often fenced with a locked gate. Since shooting is prohibited in this area (Glade Run Recreation Area) , there is little vandalism that I've seen.
I'm wearing a helmet, eye protection and hard toe boots, carry a methane detector and keep and eye out for rattlesnakes. I've worked on active drilling rigs, both on and offshore, around production equipment, using high explosives and radiation, and coping with high pressures and flammable fluids and gases. It _is_ dangerous being around big moving pieces of metal. I've been too close to two blowouts. Thank you for your concern! Most people around here use natural gas from these wells to heat their homes, cook their food and generate electricity, so it would be counterproductive to damage equipment, and readily detected.
if you don’t like it then don’t watch I actually really enjoy this stuff I think it’s cool I’ve never seen a pump jack in real life besides on games and pictures i didn’t think that engine power ones were even still around
@@tonydetwiler2624 seen a zillion pump jacks and actually worked on that particular well. Don’t be triggered man,..I could explain/make sense of a lot of the process for ya
