thanks for the vid. helpful. question. i'm looking for a tandem to take on overlanding trips. needs to fit on my roofrack. i like to keep height of gear at 8 inches. so would need to fold /roll this down max dimensions of about 54 inches long 18 inches wide and 8 inches high. if i ditched their bag and use my own (storing the accessories in my hard cases) can i get it down to that size? thx
There will not be a follow up review for this bag unless Klymit sends another one. It was passed on to one of our models at the commercial shoot as a thank you for their participation. Happy to answer any further questions about the bag here. Thank you.
That is correct. I believe the reason is warmth and the fact that they are worn as a base layer. Hasn’t been an issue for me but I can see how it would be for some who have the same preference.
Tganks! Got one yesterday. Read a bunch of reviews from three years ago and they were complaining that there was no 12 V cigarette adapter so I was happy to see that added now. Whatever happened to the idea of using a USB connector did they abandon that?
😭THANKS. BUT NO, I REALLY WANT A COMPACT BAG WITH A PADDED DEADICATED SLEEVE FOR IT. IM TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE TAPA 22L. OR THE TORE 24L BUCKET ?? THE 24L BUCKET SAYS ONLY A 15INCH LAPTOP SLEEVE BUT. 😳THE 22L TAPA SAYS 16INCH PADDED SLEEVE SMHH🫣 IM SO CONFUSED HOW CAN THE BIGGER LITER BAG HAVE A SMALLER LAPTOP SLEEVE SMHH GONNA JUST TAKE THE CHANCE AND GET THE TAPA.
I just got one and I don't know if it's faulty or just needs time to charge. But is there supposed to be a light of any kind when it's charging to indicate that it is actually charging ?
During charging, there should be a small green flashing light under the bottom right corner of the light button. Give that another try and if it still does not appear, try another cable before sending it back. Faulty cables are fairly common and it could be that.
Got this last week. 6ft2, 240lbs, 44 inch chest, lean, and XL is great fit. I’ve had several compliments on it, the colour and texture of this are eye catching for sure. It is very soft and feels good to wear. Happy with the purchase and this is definitely the colour to get or else classic black
10m later. You still pleased?. No fly, would like a fly. Have stio environ shell pants. Tired of doubling up on merino baselayers and still feel cold on those 10d - days. Will these work better than my 320g plus over my 150g tight bl merino? Cus that combo ain’t cutting it on arctic days.
I have used these on sub zero days both in the backcountry and at the resorts with the Raymer Shell pant. I have had no issues with getting cold. I’m confident you will love them for both warmth and comfort on the chair or the uptrack. Pro tip: if you always run cold and end up having issues, try throwing a hand warmer in each pocket of your shell pants. A friend of mine did that recently and it worked well.
Is there any internal frame to the pack? Or, is it foldable? I take quite a bit of gear to huts in a pulk sled, but this looks perfect for daily skinning once I’m up there.
It does have two strips of internal, removable frame with frame pockets on the inside of the pack. It’s a great pack for what you mention and I have used it to pack gear into huts as well as daily skinning/skiing. You won’t be disappointed. 😀
Take a look at the thumbnail which should give you a good idea on packed size. Not much bigger than a Nalgene bottle. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I’ve been very close to purchasing the R1 Air but have been put off by reports by some owners that it got a bit shredded by backpack straps. I’m still searching for a similar, highly durable option.
I haven’t had that experience so far but have only used it with a pack a couple of times now. That is interesting feedback so thanks for mentioning it here. Has anyone else out there in the comments had issues with backpack straps deteriorating the R1 Air polyester material?
These look awesome, i just entered a raffle to win a pair so i have to wait a couple weeks in case i win lol. I had the bca radios and was not impressed. For something that's for backcountry use they had some major flaws and I only got 1 season out of them before they stopped being able to charge.
I bought the hoodless half zip one a few years ago and the zip always got caught at the start of the neck. On inspection there was some slight tearing of the material that holds the zip. I never did anything about it but its always quite annoying. Otherwise an amazing top and I still love it.
A HUGE benefit of down is the weight and pack ability. Down compresses much smaller and isn’t damaged like synthetic is. Synthetic loses loft after it’s compressed repeatedly, like a couple years if used regularly. Down last 20+ years, far more compressible and long lasting.
Totally agree with you and my preference is down. I will add that the disadvantage to down is that it takes longer to dry when wet and loses its ability to keep you warm when wet. Thanks for the great comment.
It likely will have a few cold spots where glued but not enough to where you would notice much heat loss. I’m still thoroughly impressed with this insulation layer.
Unfortunately, I was unable to do a full review on this bag as I ended up giving it to one of the models that did a Klymit photo shoot with us. I’m sorry I can’t offer my experience using this product, just first impressions.
