I use this show in teaching disaster recovery. It is so on the mark for the recovery issues. The fact it is brilliantly scripted and acted, and has a killer soundtrack makes it even better!
Pirating exists so our Turkish brethren can enjoy top-tier television that they might be otherwise region-locked out of. Do it with a clear conscience!
This was one of my all-time favorite HBO shows. Years after it ended I was in NO with my wife and we had a cabbie drive us through The Treme. We didn't know at the time, but he was born and raised in The Treme and it was more interesting watching him recite the memories, especially when he drove us to Louis Armstrong's home where he played as a kid. What an experience and what a great show.
I think if they would’ve totally went all Hollywood with this it probably would’ve gotten better ratings and more attention. But thank the good Lord that they did NOT do that. They made a timeless piece. Something very real and unusual for these times. Hopefully someday people will recognize this and other efforts like it in this country. Huge props to Wendell Pierce. He was born and raised in New Orleans and he really makes the show pop.
Yeah, David Simon and his partner producers make magnificent shows. I liked this so much more than I previously thought I would. It was magnificent. Gave the Deuce another chance as well after previously turning it off because of Franco and wow. That show absolutely blew me away in the 3rd season. Really powerful show that stuck with me days after. This man has made multiple important television shows at this point.
From France.. I love this Treme's vibe .. This show is so powerfull.. I would like to seen it all over the country .. And more.. Those emotions .. Bless you people, we are united all around and over the world.. Love is Music & Music is Love . ✊✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 <3
I uploaded the clip and Im not from New Orleans. I just love how the show is about the people and not about the places in NOLA. People with a culture about respecting traditions, celebrating life and a resiliency that is to be admired. We need more of this in this country.
Agreed. Should’ve kept it going. But unfortunately it never really caught major attention. Not a big surprise though. Your general American audience in general is not a good audience. But this is one hell of a show that will have relevance years and decades from now.
Couldn’t agree more with the description - one of my favorite shows of all time. So much insight regarding the real events that took place after Katrina... I’ve only been twice but the moment I stepped foot in New Orleans I immediately understood why it’s such a beloved place.
Nonsense!! It's even better because it can afford to get more specific than The Wire's scope. Even if The Wire is apparently about Baltimore, it's much more sweeping than that. While Treme can only be about New Orleans, and be the more intimate show for it.
First time I heard do whatcha wanna, me and my people lost our minds. Wish my knees could still do what my mind wanna but I'm kinda old now so I just walk no drop
There something kind of cringey about this whole NOLA " vibe. First of all there's the word " nawlins" second the caucasians can't dance for shit, They look foolish in the street there and its embarrassing, third the music is ok but not that great, just kind of jazz played badly and the food is not that good- they just take French cuisine and add a bunch of cayenne pepper to it and whatever toxic seafood they get out of the gulf.
Caucasians are from the Caucasus. I was unaware Georgians, Chechens, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, and Dagestani folks frequented Nawlinz! Don’t get me started on the Ossetians!
So, ok, if they bleep the syllables, the audience won't KNOW he's actually saying "play for the muthafuckin money??"...Go, YT censorship. So utterly..pointless..
I truly hope I spread enough love in this life to have a second line - like they really give a shit (including being white wlol). I can die more than happy then. ;)
Fantastic how things affect you. turned on the clip when i was texting a friend and i started to notice how the words started to come out differently.. goes to say you "are" your thoughts, actions aswell as you surroundings
