Dien Bien Phu was the United States' first mistake in Vietnam, they should never have stopped supporting the French in that battle. What the communists did to the captured prisoners was a true war crime.

Akira was a very pessimistic film about the future, about technology, science and mankind. This is what I would expect from a live action remake. excellent trailer, which captures the meaning of the original work.

Coppola,Kubrick and Oliver Stone were obviously very inspired by Schoendoerffer's films. You can also find many reference to his "Anderson section" in Platoon 👍
Never understood why they thought having multiple mutually supporting 'forts' was a good idea: it seems obvious that one takes each fort one at a time. That said, the Vietnamese opponents did incredible things to get the guns and logistics where they were most effective.

The Russian army has no NCO corps thus frontline decision making is often delayed which costs soldiers lives. I have described most of the Russian army as an armed mob!!
My great uncle (mom's uncle) was one of the Vietnamese paratroopers who vanished in this battle. If someone know where I can watch this (preferrably in HD), please let me know. Cannot find it on any streaming services. That is such a shame.
