Just installed 5.3 4l60e in wife's car. What did you use for shift cable? Tie in original alternator and battery wires? I have pypes violator on my 68 lemans and it's called that for a reason. It's 461 on e85 with 11.9;1 compression prolly why so loud. Nice video
@@oldschooltwist18 that’s awesome! I used the original shift cable from the car & I used new wires cut to the length I liked for the alternator and battery. I bet that thing sounds sweet with that setup! Thanks!
I’m block sanding my 80 z28 right now, fixing to paint. I completed all mechanical work and new interior. I have built cars for 40 years and I’m building this one for myself. My first car was a 1980 z28. My last car will be the same. Keep turning wrenches. The addiction of autohaulic is real. Don’t fight it
Looks good bro 👍 keep at it , I have 3 of these cars , right now I'm working on my black 80 t-top ,new gas tank and lines , brake upgrade , suspension upgrade all this summer , over this winter I'll be swapping the rear end gear and axles , it runs good with the 350 motor I have in it now ,but I may build a 383 stroker for it also this winter , my 79 r.s. gets the love next spring , had it since 97 has a built 327 with 4 speed and 373 gears, pretty quick back in the day ,
I believe I would have taken care of the paint before doing any of this unless your going to leave it like that if you get somebody who knows what their doing I think a lot of the paint can be buffed out to a point but I don’t know (the doors and trunk buffed) but iv also seen a lot of great new sprays that can bring paint back to life
@@goblin2246 I just posted the first video in a series on redoing the interior you should check it out! But we recovered the rear seat with a new black vinyl/leather cover from Distinctive Industries! Also installing aftermarket front seats, 5th Gen Camaro center console, new interior plastic pieces, as well as custom door panels from LRB!
Followed you, I have a 1981 camero and I’m doing the interior as well so any thing you do and learn is definitely beneficial to me as well in the process.
Damn man its alot specially for someone like me thats not a mechanic i uoutube everything i have a 1979 camaro z28 n i just got it painted but my engine is leaking from the freeze plugs now im like should i rebuild or swap inknow the 5.7 is slow but i just want it to drive daily
Love that teal color , very nice. Really transformed your Camaro. 👍 I painted my 81 Trans Am pace car in my two car garage. I went with a 2 stage base coat , clear coat. Took me about 7 months all together. That inflatable paint booth is sweet. 👍
Good job on the LS install. I am sure it’s night and day difference in performance compared to that weak 305 engine. I am putting a LS swap parts list together for my 81 Trans Am pace car. I am either going LSA or turbo on a 5.3 I haven’t done a LS swap but my brother has on his 76 Trans Am. Thanks for posting the video on the LS swap.
Wow, you're one lucky SOB. No problems out of any of your aftermarket parts?! Dude, buy a lottery ticket already! Every YT'er I follow has been having issues with every thing they buy lately.
I like it, the wheels, the stance, the paint job, everything. It looks like it would have in the 80s. I mean that in a good way. Looks like a solid car as well.
@@bennettcollins1474 thank you! It is Dark Teal Metallic by Restoration Shop, acrylic enamel single stage. I have a video posted of us painting the car if you wanted to check it out!
@@chriscutrona5702 No spacer required, the LS3 water pump is the same offset as the truck. And yes all other accessories lined up when using the Speed Engineering Bracket for alternator and ps pump.
My childhood passion was the Z28! I had two 78 Z28s, an 81 Z28, and an 81 Firebird. You need to have the muffler outlets on the inside of the car, closest to the driveshaft. This will give you lots of room for the mufflers under the body with the excess muffler mass pointing to the tires. You can then tuck the mufflers up into pockets in the floor plan of the car. Plenty of room for the mufflers if installed correctly. Love the car. Keep up the great work!
Firstly I’d like to thank you for making these videos. I have a 78 z28 I’d really like to put a LS into and it seems intimidating but it’s not. Imma do it. Thank you very much
@@jeffleary1598 no problem! I definitely say go for it! It was a little intimidating at first, but in all honesty the whole process went fairly smoothly. Everything really just fell into place and fit up really good.
@@RedEyedPatriot Not bad! Yeah I know it could have been done way cheaper but this was just how it worked out for me. If I could go back I would probably do a few things different but it is what it is now.
I used a Speed Engineering Conversion bracket for the alternator and power steering pump. It is the stock power steering pump, as well as alternator that came on the 5.3. I also swapped to a LS3 style water pump.
@@CurtisHarshey I understand that thought, honestly just too excited to have the car look more complete finally. Majority of the paint looks fine in my eyes, mainly the passenger door and trunk that need love so thinking I may get away with leaving the new parts on.
I used to have a 1979 Camaro. Right now I have a 1978 and 1980 Camaro. The 78 model, has a Z-28 Front end. I was living in Fort Worth when I purchased it. I wondered why did they put a Z-28 front end. I did a search for a 78 front in, and found nothing. But when I searched for a Z-28 front end, there were plenty of them available. So it has the 350 engine. And it runs really well. Zero smoke. And plenty of power.
Gotta Love Black Dice On The Mirror. Subbed 😎. I'm gonna do you a solid and share your channel with my subscribers. I've got a LS swapped 82 c10 Squarebody myself.
