What a ridiculous load of faffing about! ... When I got into Hi-Fi in the late 70's, I read much about the LP12. I always wanted one, but fortunately couldn't afford one! I had to "make do" with a JVC Quartz Lock, a Sansui SR-222 MK2, and a very nice Thorens! These days, I could easily afford an LP12, but I don't want one any more! ... Thank God! 🤣
Didn't the japs look enthralled? Ya gotta love em! just a few comments, always use gloves when placing the drive belt around the motor pulley and surface of the inner hub assembly. (keep the possibility of transmitting some natural skin oils to the rubber) don't twist the cartridge wires. space the active wires away from the earth wires. make sure the arm is perfectly horizontal prior to applying recommended tracking weight. make sure the arm board is horizontal, not sloping, and never NEVER align a cartridge purely on a t/table manufacturers spec. invest in a good alignment protractor, they start with a Cart align. feel free to drop me a line for tips on use
I've always thought this is a very nice turntable, but overpriced. When I see one taken apart, it leaves me even more mystified about the eye-watering price.
I had realization watching this that there must be a whole lot more people out there buying $40k + amplifiers than I thought. There really is quite a market out there for the $100k + rig kind of audiophile.
This man invented the first true a class amplifier,,,,,, he got pushed out by a investor who knew jack shit about hifi, though i would necer be able to afford one of these amplifiers, i appreciate the work dan has done for the music industry, to HELL with the investor, and may mr dagostino live forever, god bless you sir, i have listened to the ksa 150 and i was blown away, god blessyou mr dagostino, greetings from australia
Hi there all of you, at the D’Agostino shop, Very nice and entertaining clip indeed. I wish you all the best, and good luck with the new Relentless pre-amp. It is very beautiful. Best Regards from Johan in Sweden
One question? Why not set up the level of the deck with a record on it? It would seem to be the best option for keeping the level of the armboard flush with the plinth. In that way everything's level while the deck plays a disk.
It's very expensive for what it is. Plus there's all the mystique about the setup. The SME's outclass it sonically and leave the Linn standing in terms of engineering excellence.
ROFL. This is a very costly joke on the well heeled but audio stupid. Give me an old DUAL 600 or 700 series, belt or direct drive, over that joke. Special drive belt indeed.
...что они дрочатся с ним три серии подряд???😕🤨...а те стоят и внимательно так смотрят.🙁 Нет нем ничего удивительного и прецизионно-военно-космическо-технологически-точного
I guy I worked with 25 years ago lost his LP12 and all his vinyl in nearly tragic circumstances. A property developer wanted to buy his house so that he could expand the pub next door. My workmate said that the house was not for sale. There was a home invasion. The home-owner and his wife were hogtied and the house was doused with petrol and set on fire. Somehow they managed to escape, but the house was a complete loss. If you have an LP12, guard it well.
they are looking at the bloke from Linn like he's God, and the deck like its something from outer space - the chump in the body warmer and tie needs a right good slap with a wet fish for being so starstruck!
The dealer I bought my LP12 from showed me how to set it up as I when I bought when I was up visiting I was taking it back down the road. I bought an SME not long after as I was going to have to stay away from home for work regularly. Far less faff and no alignment commode needed.
J.Rabbi not sure, I did a google and people had suggestions, I don’t want to give you other people’s guesses. Someone said the 1 had a smooth anodized finish and the 2 had a rough crinkly finish. I have a Sondek with an Ittok, don’t know much about the other arms
Watching this video, it only goes to show how much thought goes into to making and building of these decks. Although exspencive, you really get your moneys worth in build and sound quality as I can testify to having been an LP12 owner for many years now. What's also good is you can start with a Majik and work your way all the way up to a full Klimax LP12, if you have the money and desire to do so, meaning your never left stuck at one level of sound quality. Also, any future upgrades can be added as and if you desire them. I can think of few, if any other decks, that are so adaptable. As I said, exspencive yes, but future proofed forever.
From what I can gather here these later generation decks differ from the earlier ones in not requiring such a high degree of tightening. Fascinating stuff though.
Thank you so much for this content, it's such an amazing insight into the set up of this fantastic deck. There is so much mystique about the set up of a Sondek, it's great to see what goes into set up on a step by step basis by an expert.
