Working with someone implies mutual responsibility. I would prefer to work for someone that insured my work, paid my tax, gave sick benefits, contributed to my pension pot, offered EAP, and was governed by employment law as to how they treated me.
This was a very interesting conversation. I want to live in the moment, I want to acclimate to expecting, experiencing feeling fantastic every day is a GREAT day.
Worked with T-Bird back in 2009 at Gruene H-D. Had some good times and met a lot of great people that I still talked with to this day. This year is my 18th year in the Harley business and I often thing back to my time in Gruene and can’t help but smile. Great episode! Glad to see you doing so well Trevor. God speed!
I am honored to say that I remember drawing 4x4 trucks and superheroes, playing basketball (still a Spurs fan?), and learning to play the trombone in middle school with Mike. It's amazing to listen to this podcast and hear his voice, thinking to myself, "Yup, that's Mike; he's still sounds the same - just more mature!" I'm happy for you, Mike, and it's wonderful to hear of your hard-earned accomplishments and the work you continue to do today. Keep being an inspiration to so many others. I'm proud of you!
Sitting off the side of a mountain bike trail. "should I just go back to physical therapy in EP or start this thing in ABQ?" Mike made the right choice then, after and continues to make smart choices in life. Great interview with a great entrepreneur, who also happens to be a great human..
There were two people that really made that decision with me and you and your pard are the reason it happened the way it did. This summer I put my MTB in the back of the truck and drove to Tablazon. Did a solo ride on the dirt we spent so much time on. It has been 16 years but the big rocks and feature came flooding back as did memory of the rigs we were on. So glad I listened to you and followed your lead in so many ways. Did I ever say thank you? Thank you! for being there for me when I needed more than a business partner or mentor, when I needed a friend. Luv ya.
I had the pleasure of working with Mike when he was building his business in Albuquerque. I moved to his town during that time and although I was probably 15+ years his senior, I looked up to Mike and leaned on him for his wisdom and experience. He has always been thoughtful, strategic, and wise beyond his years. Listening to his thoughts and seeing his ongoing success was a joy to see. Thank you for hosting him.
Kent- You were such a great influence with your calm yet focused and successful approach to business. There are few people that were as grounded and wholistic that could bring it day in and day out. "I don't know if I ever said thank you?" but Thank you! for the belief in our team, the relentless support, and being a big part of the golden years of my career.
You're very kind Mike and thank you. And if you're still in touch with Ted, please give him my best. He too made my time in ABQ a wonderful memory. @@MichaelSFrench
