Look up SULASTIC Shocks there in San Antonio.... I'll bet you they have what you need to hang them springs and make it really nice ride at the same time!
11:48 .. Personally ...I;d take advantage of this event to build a new fuel tank under the trucks bed somewhere. They stopped putting the fuel tank inside, where you and he wife and kids sit, for a particular reason ...
8:34 Really should not hac=ve t say this .. standard procedure is to flood the tank with Arcon or whatever mig mix you have ...and LEAVE it flowing while welding!! Poor man's substitute is run an exhaust hose from someone else car into the tank.. it'll keep the O2 out .. Sometimes they'll explode, and ruin the tank (makes it "ball shaped" :)
6:36 I went with Holley's fully adjustable 12- 879 pressure regulator. It comes with 2 springs and can precisely regulate from 4 psi, all the way up to 65 psi My thought is? I'm putting the softer spring in a box with an older Holley 4 barrel 4150 base carburetor, with the mounting studs and keeping it in the back of the van with a simple tool box ... Just incase I'm broken down somewhere?? Where there's no parts, (like rural Saskatchewan) ?? Myself, or any mechanic can carefully take off the throttle body, (for future repair) .... change a spring in the regulator, and slap the 4 barrel on, and i'm back up and running, in an emergency of ANY kind :)
6:07 Fittings are a big decision! .. You can spend literally hundreds of dollar extra on fittings!! .. And just about nothing comes with them free!! I decided to go old fashioned 3/8" hard Aluminum fuel lines, and EFI rated Rubber hose splices (I have a bead roller for the aluminum fuel line so rubber hose and EFI rated hose clamps will be secure) .... and an IN TANK 60 PSI Fuel Pump Holley includes a ROLL of rubber fuel line with some Master kits, but personally I don't like long runs of rubber hose, just my preference. I'll need a bunch of NPT to Barbed hose fittings, but I have a drawer FULL of that stuff, I have collected over the years!) .. And I'll seal EVERY NPT fitting with Loctite 592 high temperature Thread Sealer paste. The only "newfangled" fitting I had to get was for the throttle body itself ... a pair of 6AN Female 90 degree to 3/8 hose Barb at $10 each :) This will make everything for the fuel runs, serviceable and replaceable with just screw driver! :)
3:35 I've been collecting parts to put the Sniper 2 on my big P30 Chevy Van! :) I poured over filters, seeing what was best, I've actually got TWO here to return ... .. I decided to go with a Caterpillar -0750 spin on fuel filter .. They do 10 micron or smaller right out of the box, and spare filters are like $20
@holdenbros910 If your looking for Off Road Parts like custom leaf's then you might want to check out barnes 4wd. They do a lot of work with RU-vidrs and have a huge selections of parts for custom builds.
Im a gay man, I was a woman for a period of time (originally a man) and have now re transitioned back into a man. You need to watch your words when you say trans (transmission ) because I have becomed offended and you will know no bounds of my trans (transitional, sexually) anger!
Pretty mint little truck honestly. But the power/drivetrain was completely thrashed. I could see why he took it in. Granted it turned into a sizeable project completely re-engineering the entire suspension, It's definitely in good hands 100%. Stoked to see how it turns out!!
Awesome job, thanks for sharing. We have a portable ATV lift we use as a work bench for motors and stuff so your not bending over and on the knees, you guys need one.
So are you running non-intercooled or are you cutting the firewall? Non-intercooled, a 6BT will fit if you use an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. Otherwise you're cutting the firewall and building a doghouse. Or using a 4BT instead... just curious what the plan is.
You need to show more details on the fabrication side.. such as the rear end suspension mounts, pinion angle etc. Show more details. I'm here to learn.
Yeah, it's interesting how some guys loose their sh*t if you don't want to leave it all original. I had comments like that on my D200 video when I said I wanted to put a cummins in it... Anyhow, I'm collecting parts to convert to 4x4.
Thanks for the info on the blue truck in the background. Cool project. It'll be something the customer will be proud of as a daily driver. Thanks for the video.
Just throwing this out there. Would it be possible to take a new tundra and put a Cummins in it? Would the electrical components have a chance at working?
Probably. Cummins' (depending on the year) only need like 3 wires to run. It's just getting the electronics of the Tundra to communicate with the Cummins that would suck.
I have been a power wagon fan since the original WWII era. This truck is fabulous and I love the idea of upgrading to 12 valve Cummins. I’m somewhat reserved however on changing the wheel tire combination. But as with most of your builds it’s well reasoned and i myself would prefer to have it more roadworthy. I would make it a daily driver and am sure the owner will love it in its new configuration.
