BWCACAST is an IPTV (Internet TV) show or Video Podcast that brings you the viewer on a weekly trip into the Boundary Water Canoe Area.
The primary focus is to show off the natural beauty of the area as well as provide occasional tips and tricks that we have learned camping over the years.
What is the history of this region? There are 10,000 lakes in MN!! How do the USCG and Canadien CG patrol this area? Also, which continental divide is involved. Where does this water flow?
I just ran across this video. I thought you have hung up the podcast for good. Glad I ran across a new video and you were back in the canoe a couple years ago. Hope you make more BWCACAST videos!
Excellent video Sir. I am so thankful for running into this video. Just began my canoeing career and im loving it. Have a small leak. I got my kit and will watch this video as i fix it. THANK YOU 🎉
Just discovered your channel as I am planning a trip this summer from Fall Lake to Basswood falls. Thanks so much for your work and sharing your adventures.
This was only showing part of the day. We actually started in Mudro in the morning and ended up in Friday bay in the afternoon. We try really hard to keep our portages down to one trip across so we don't have take the time to go back for another pack. This really speeds up our travel time.
We keep most of the gear inside in dry type bags. We have found some compression sacks that are dry bags, which is really nice. If it is a real down pour we usually get off the water and get our packs under some cover. But you are right, they can soak up the water and gain some weight for the next portage.
Thanks! It has been so long. We are hoping to get another trip in this summer. We will see how many episodes we get out this five day trip. More to come. :)
Hi Lincoln, It probably took us about three hours to get through there. The wind was really ripping across wind lake which made for a slow paddle. Are you going in there soon? Its a great way to get into Basswood.
I went a few weeks ago. The portage at the north end of Win lake was a mucky mess. Could only attempt to reach the portage from the first of three points. Portage was extremely overgrown so I didn’t even try to get to wind bay. Was camping on wind lake anyway. It was late August so I guess the water was just really low at the north end of Wind Lake.
Really should use a rock to knock a fish unconscious, or a stout blade pushed down through the skull, behind the eyes and into the brain, to kill it before filleting a fish.
Great video! - I have owned a lumberjack backpack, a briefcase portfolio and satchel for many years now. Very happy with Duluthpack. My bags were made by Lisa, Carol and Tracie.
25 years ago, my youth group went down Ge-be-on-e-quet river into the lake. We loved the falls between the two bodies of water so much, we came back the next day and used the falls as a water slide for a bit of fun. Thanks for the video!
Hi Charlie, What a fun place to go play. We sure love that area of the BWCA. Thanks for the comment. We plan to fire up the channel again in the near future. Have a great day. Bill
We are planning a trip this summer. Our kids are now old enough to start tackling trips into the BWCA. So we are excited to give it a shot this summer and see how it goes. Thanks for checking in. Bill
@@bowrudder899 Oh man that is terrible. We use ours all the time. I've reached out to an online store that shows they still sell them to see if they have any quantity available. If so I'll post a link for you.
So they got back to me and said that there is no production of the product anymore. I did find a website on how to DIY a BakePacker. classiccampstoves.com/threads/homemade-bakepacker.10036/
