If you get stabbed with a Chinese knife you go to hell apparently so i see why people don’t like Chinese steel. Sorry that’s a joke I had a buddy that cussed me for carrying a chinesium knife!
Good to see they didn't F the dog on those. CobraTec is also making excellent, high value knives. Non àutos too. Just picked up a bone handled trapper auto with a hidden release bolster in D2. I'd rate it 9 out of 10, & I've been collecting for 45yrs.
I remember the first time seeing an otf on Romancing the stone, and I was in love as a boy. A little later in life I got to handle that knife and it was called the black panther. Don't know who made it because I didn't get to hold it long😢
Subconsciously, people refuse to believe that, over time, improvements can happen. It's why your parents continue to throw that thing you did, when you were 3 years-old, in your face. Schrade's entire new line up looks pretty good. I haven't seen any knifetuber reviews, though, so I'm a little hesitant to take that plunge. I, too, have been burned by that brand, and it's hard to see that it has grown up.
Hi Chris. I’ve never written you before. You’re describing my life 30 years ago. I probably noticed symptoms 10 years before I admitted that I was diabetic. I was cold when it was hot and hot when it was cold. I would walk through a doorway and my temperament and personality would change. I would be watching TV and have to pee at every commercial. I went through the scared stiff stage and the inner reflection stage. What helped me was to think of food as a necessary power source and not a pleasure or a reward for a hard day. GOOD NEWS ! After I came to terms and got leveled out, my life has been relatively back to normal. It’s been 30 years now so life isn’t over. I never preach to people because everyone has to figure things out for themselves. There is only one thing I found out for myself. It’s that refined food in this country is the worst drug addiction and is the hardest to kick. Good luck with your journey. Best wishes
Schrade FINALLY got their shit together with OTFs...is that what you're saying Chris?...lol I know people give Schrade a hard time, but I've seen them have their ups/downs just like any other knife company...and as far as budget friendly knives, they've done reasonably well...they've made some pretty janky knives that probably overshadowed the better offerings...but sometimes you have to make some bad things and find out the hard way. I've always hated the grind on the Benchmade Infidel and have corrected it on a lot of the ones brought by customers at their request...they love everything except the terrible grind and some complain about the D2 blade rusting (I like D2 if it's tempered well) If Schrade does this right and uses respectable steel and has good Q/C, this may be one of their best sellers in the near future...they could probably go for a bit lower profile on the trigger though imo
I found jessX saber grind for $20 each. You may have sold us about it. I bought 5. I have given them out to some dudes that appreciate them. I have two left. One new one I beat on. The bottom hook angle pinches some but other than that I love that thing. Dig it.
Honestly, if I picked it up and it didn’t say schrade, I would be guessing some chiner co. Made it. Just my humble opinion, and I’m not dissing the review or anything. But the blocky lines of a rather large handle to tiny blade ratio, what I’m seeing through the video, they look cheap. And I get it, they are actually cheap compared to others in the OTF world, but looking cheap is not a good thing, on a hundred dollar schrade. It’s just the wrong category to be dickin around with making budget moves, with chiner parts and “USA assembly”. I get the feeling that the knife community is already tired of D2’s comeback campaign, that to me, always screamed, chiner’s involved in some fashion. It’s like these companies trying to be sneaky. CPM D2, good stuff! German D2, good stuff! Chiner and Pakistan D2? 🤷🏼♂️ Anyway, thanks for the review, Chris🤙🏼
Eye of the beholder. I've handled plenty of cheap Schades and will be first to point out if it looks cheap. These for look out feel cheap to me. If I had one complaint it would be "Schrade" on the pocket clip.
I swore I’d never buy another Schrade knife about 5 years ago due to quality control and heat treat issues. Well, I decided to give a Schrade made Old Timer fixed blade in D2 a shot for $50. It’s a solid camp knife! I’m still skeptical of their brand, but they might be able to win me over again. Maybe.
The Scrhrade FROE is AWESOME, especially if you wrap lots of racket tape around the handle, then coat it in plastidip, then strip the blade and duracoat it. It then goes from "great" to "can't live without it"!
I dunno. I bought a Schrade bushcrafting knife, it broke almost immediately while doing bush crafting stuff. I emailed schrade customer support and they ignored me.
That's the problem companies face, one big mistake creates a PR nightmare, and alot of customers won't forget or forgive. In some cases it's warranted (Gillette), in others they get rid of the problem people and make amends.
