Nice. I have exactly the same engine with little run time. Had been left for years with caster in it, took some cleaning out especially the Dykes piston ring which was ceased solid. A gift from a friend. Would be nice to see yours in a model.

I’m a complete newb with RC. But quite good with gas(and methanol/nitro) 2 strokes. The crossover doesn’t seem that different. That said, if anyone can help I certainly appreciate it! -why do these motors use glow plugs versus spark plugs? -Is there an ignition coil of any kind? -why do RC expansion chambers have the stinger on the side (mostly) versus out the rear? -what is the largest displacement motor in this technology? Thanks in advance, I enjoy the channel, and the hobby👍🏻

I watched your video because I have an OS FS70 (has run only 1 or so tankful, so new). I'm having difficulty keeping it running at low speed, so I'll try what you've just done on the .91. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Your nose wheel was pointing all the way to the left while doing the wheelie... interesting what that gyro and the flight modes make :)

Super Maiden Ron!! Or Ali 🤣 But I suppose you couldn’t find someone better to maiden and trimm your plane! Cool that with the flight modes! I need to learn that. I’m just flying around 1,5 years (the last half year strong on edfs) and one year a listener of your pod!! :D But I’m still shocked with that 150W of your cars and trying to find out how many amps it would deliver for 3S 😬😬😬😬 Power = voltage x current :) Congrats for your waiver!!! Here in Germany you just fly a turbine if you have one and your club ist permitted to fly gasers. But maybe there are clubs with own rules. Our is super nice and easy 👌🏼 The last weeks I’ve been watching a coleague fly his Hawk with P250 Jetcat and now P300 on the huge Pilot arc F-16… awesome. But some extra skills are needed, like braking when landing, throttle management, turbine out landings (watched one), speed, etc… but super cool…. Our field is also short (like 450 feet) so take off and landings would not be ao easy for beginners with bigger turbine models. not to mention those high forest and power lines around the field! but those are also difficult for any plane xd😅 best regards from south east Bavaria also to Dave and Tom! And sorry for my spelling on my iPhone :/

So peaceful. No whining motors. Just learning to fly, but I’m taken by the gliders. Managed to find a hobie hawk, and an un assembled Bird of Time. Flying an aero scout and a radian for now.

I'm glad I found this, I have the same engine. I wanted to take the throttle arm off so I set about undoing that mixture screw. I wouldn't feel quite so stupid if it was the first time I'd done it but, no, I did it a few years ago to a Saito (I'm pretty sure it was a Saito). Back then I was the club beginner and other, wiser heads stepped in to fix it. Not so now, I have to work this out myself so, as I say, I'm glad I found this, thanks for posting it.

in my experience with thermal soaring I learned that those built-up planes don't penetrate as they need to to get around the sky and take advantage of thermals. At the same time, an electric winch gets you MUCH higher, where thermal lift seemed easier to find. After switching to composite type planes and an electric winch I soon found getting the plane down from spec-out height was more of a challenge than finding good lift to begin with. The first several times I got my plane up that high was a strange experience. There were times where the plane would be climbing so quickly I'd almost panic about losing it...I learned how to reflex the ailerons to pick up speed to get the heck out of those 'boomers'...The plane would sound like a jet from the speed it would hit when that happened. I miss flying those. Just when I was beginning to learn this stuff the club I belonged to lost it's field.

I FLEW TELEMASTERS IN RC AIRSHOWS,, SOME REAL IMPORTANT THINGS I WISH TO SHARE, FIRST PUT RIDGED STRUTS for the wings, SECOND DONT OVER POWER IT, A OS MAX 60 IS PERFECT BALANCE AND THE PERFORMANCE INCREASES, AS IT IS NOT LIKE A STRING FOLLOWING A ROCK. I REALLY MISS THESE AND IT WAS MY FAVORITE TO FLY.. NEVER BE IN A TRASH CAN AROUND ME FOR CERTAIN IT WOULD BE REBUILT IN THE SAME WEEK I FOUND IT, even if i cant afford the radio and motor any longer

Just discovered you guys, I'll track down the podcast. Similarly I attempted to quick charge a nimh pack on my TX which while flying my ST ARF back in 2010 the pack went prematurely "flat" and I stuffed into the ice on a lake near Madison WI. Still bothersome. Anyway its beautifully restored, lots o pics on RCG. That control hardware was a joke. Electrified I was able to drop roughly 2 pounds. If "nothing but nothing " as they say flies like the ST....electrified and very light its extraordinary fun. Loved the car crash! Merry Christmas 2023

Interesting. Can you explain something to me? I am coming from a motor cycle engine background and I am wondering how well the bottom end is lubricated in these four stroke engines - the crank and the camshaft and followers, and how are the rockers and valve stems lubricated please? Is the oil passed down by 'blow by' enough, and if so, is there a possibility that too much oil can build in the crank case? What proportion of oil is included in the fuel? Thanks if you get time to address this issue.

The first words out of the wife's mouth was "They're cheating." I have no idea how many times we've launched on a hi-start, but it would be well in excess of a thousand I'm sure. Funny though, I've never done a winch launch. Back then we had kids to chase the hi-start most of the time. This brought back so many great memories. Thanks for the video y'all.
