Great editing the way you backtrack those logs right back to the wilderness. The cut from new sapling to old tree is especially poignant. How many centuries before it grows to look like that...

The suburban landscaping is such a tragedy... The Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii) and Garry Oak (Quercus Garryana) are absolutely beautiful and important parts of the local ecosystem. Slow growing and rare, especially the Oak.

This is great. To be honest though, I like going to the forest for seclusion, so wouldn't like it if everyone went out there,

These trees aren't endangered or old growth. Why is this so sad?

I have a new appreciation for trees and so i should... they are the lungs of the Earth. Became interested after discovering evergreen essential oils. Douglas fir might be my favorite, Siberian fir also has a beautiful aroma

Yezs it is the old story of white settlement greed, We as a socitey promote and honor resource development. It is the right view,to make money, turn nature into natural resource. No there is no protection,do your research. Ask for the municipal bylaw. Ie Nanaimo City bylaw, cut an oak replace it with an oak! That is all! No recognition that our Garry oak has any higher significance. The replacement oak suggested,Engkish oakmQuer us robur,as an alternate,it will be the weed invasive tree. Understanding the oak tribe is far too difficult for arborists and foresters. Oaks to oakiphiles, are truly plastic and readily hybridizes with any kin. So that hybrid, in the Qgarryana case, means no more species, in the future of Garry oak. Weedy, invasives and hybrids are stronger and more resistant as well.So Garry Oaks will succumb to European insects and diseases, the hybrids continue on. Back to the developers who cut down the oak, they are sanctioned by the law, as long as trees are planted according to the bylaws. Then there is the Carbon sink of old trees lost when replaced by younger trees. Outside of mubicipalities, anyone at anytime can cut an oak.

The delepers aren't building for whites. They built for foreigners who have never paid tax here or had anything to do with the building of Canada.

Nicely done!! Lovely, noble trees. Southern California has its own Douglas-Fir species, the Bigcone Douglas-Fir (Pseudotsuga macrocarpa). It is a much smaller tree (maybe 130'), but it sure is beautiful, rugged, and adds character to the chaparral and conifer forest. It is endemic to Southern California and is very drought hardy. Its northern range extension ends about 35 miles from where Pacific Douglas-Fir picks up in Santa Barbara County, Southern California.

I noticed in the Royal Bay community that you have under construction that you're planting this tree called the Garry Oak. While many consider it an endangered species it is also one of the most unattractive and hard to clean up after trees in the system. Not only does it look dead all the time but when it drops it's leaves it also drops bark and chunks of it's branches. To plant something this ugly, messy and unfriendly looking in such a beautifully planned and built complex seems like a contradiction of esthetics that could very easily influence the sale of the homes. Once these hideous trees are planted, the people in the area are trapped because you cannot, by law remove these monstrosities under any circumstances and the home owners are stuck looking at these ragged excuses for trees through their home windows. I know people in the landscaping business and they steer clients away from these trees for all of the above reasons stated. You might want to rethink using them and replace them with more traditional and friendly looking trees, something that doesn't look like it is waiting for Halloween to come around every day.Personally, I wouldn't buy a home in an area with this infestation growing let alone being planted as part of the landscape. Just something to think about.

Hey! Your videos have lots of potential! I would love it if you added some text for facts about the trees and voice over to add some personality! Keep it up
