I love this frosting it is absolute best ever

I have made this many times and it is not necessary to add that much icing sugar.

I find instant pudding off putting. Can pastry cream be used instead?

I would also mix instant pudding in heavy whipping cream to make a mousse filling. I love the idea to make a whipping cream, with the instant pudding to cover the cake too.

Made it today and it came out perfect for my first time making whipped icing

You said it turned out grainy when you put the entire box into the cream. What if you dumped the pudding into the cream and let it sit for a few/5 minutes so that the pudding dissolves before starting to beat it. 🤔

I tried this one hour ago but i put Jello Cheesecake instant pudding. It curdled and was thin, soupy. Not sure what i did wrong but very discouraging.
