I was scared that 50 minutes was going to be too long, BUT this is REALLY great info. I am just starting out as a small & self-publishing author, and I have to make sure I factor in these important costs and steps in bringing books to market! Thank you all so much for this session.

Hi. Lots of things explained. Thanks. One thing I still don't understand. How does the customer buy a print book? The UBL link only shows links to the ebook, and the print tab only shows "buy author copies" So how does a customer buy a print book that I've made through draft2digital?

A question. When you print a book on D2D. I can see where you order author copies...but how does a customer order a print book that you sent through D2D ?

I have fresh covers for one of my series-mentor advised I’d made a poor choice for that one genre-plus I want to update a name on the copyright page. Is this one or two changes?

Thanks for this! Quick question - for a pre-order, can I use a placeholder inside cover file and then change it for free when I have a real one? I would like to set up pre-order but have only written half the book and only have the front cover so far. Let me know and thank you!

What eBooks have taught me is the importance of a genre savvy editor. If I'm debating about buying an eBook, and notice it had been professionally edited, I am always more apt to part with my limited money. As everyone here knows, too many self-published books have obviously not been edited.

The video on Author Pages is very helpful, but the background music is distracting and makes it difficult to follow the process. Can you drop the music from your videos? Would be most appreciated.

This is purely a lie in ur books section wherein it shows only 2 books on display and total number of books sold shows a huge amount. Where is the logic then? Clearly these are 2 seperate dashboards shown.

25:00 on Or if Amazon decides your title is dangerously politically incorrect and will no longer advertise it, and you have counted on Amazon ads, it can take too long to find alternate ways to get the word out -- as happened to me with a book book that (my low standards) was selling ok, The offensive title? Live Abundantly! 50 Business Lessons from the Bible. When I learned the reason Amazon no longer accepted my ads, I dropped all Amazon ads and thank fully was told about D2D by an another author who loves D2D.

Thank you D2D for helping us do better. This, and your other programs, prove you are an excellent business partner for all self-published authors. You would think ALL publishing platforms would understand helping us indies is helping themselves -- a pretty low business IQ bar most others fail. Just the fact you want to help all of us up our game, and do so at personal expense of time and money, tells me you are one of the best companies out there and fully deserve the future success that will come your way.

Thank you so much for this invaluable information. I am very glad that this helps so many author and you people are doing a good job here. I am a web designer myself and I would just like to comment on what you've said. In addition to having a website as an author, it is also important to know you don't just get a domain and a website for the posession sake. It has to work complementarily with your social media and blogs. Let me explain. Blogging is a content marketing strategy which idea is just meant to create helpful content as a lead magnet to attract the right audience to the source of the blog, which is the authors website. This mesns that, if the right audience could not find blog content, they might not be able to find the website. Therefore, reduce the traffic on the site. It is more easier to find a blog content than finding other pages on a website. Because more people go online to search for answers to their questions rather than searching for specific brand (yet which is not yet known). Secondly, social media should be made to work hand in hand with your website also either through social media content marketing or paid ads. Finally, after authors have struggled to gain all of this audience and traffic, should they let them visot their website and lose them? Absolutely. NO. Authors should find a creative way to retain and capture their website visitors leads. A good example of what im saying is found on this author's website: johnrutherfordbooks.com Authors can have a lead magnet newsletter subscription form page on the site where every new visitor can input their emails and subscribe to your mailing list. This means that, they are impressed by your works and will like to know more about what is next to be published. So, this is a good way to attract and keep them informed. Best regards to all author. I appreciate you all. aweebenezer.framer.website

Note: I think you mean trademarked WRT "Choose Your Own Adventure." Many people have heard (maybe?) that you can't copyright a title. Though this is true, and it could lead to people thinking a title is fair game--a title can be trademarked. The lesson here is; check a name or title for trademark. This extends to other parts of a book we might not usually think could be protected. A trademark could be protecting it.

For an author looking to design a cover on their own due to preference or budget considerations, Canva is a decent platform for creating your cover art.
