I don't have an XDM, but I do have two XD sub compact 40s. I also shoot a lot. Yesterday I was out shooting one of my XD 40 next to my Glock 27 GEN 5. and at about 40 minutes in. I noticed two or three times I gotta click instead of a Bang from the XD40. because I guess I wasn't gripping that grip safety tight enough. So now I have to make a conscience effort/Thinking to grip down on the grip safety. in a stressful situation that might be a problem, as This is one of the guns I take in the woods when I go hiking Down South. I actually used this particular one to stop by charging Pharaoh Hog. I may have to start taking the 27 instead. less "thinking". Hopefully none of the soldiers in World War Two had this problem with their 1911.

That's amazing your wife is also driving the lightning also. My wife likes it so much It is now her daily driver also. She had a rental Mache recently and it's not even on the same level as the lightning. One great thing about the lightning guy and it's sleeper. Almost nobody notices that it's electric unless you open the frunk. Usually you get a look of amazement when you go to pick up the groceries and open the frunk. The F-150 lightning catches people so off guard.

Sanctions do work to keep aggressors at bay. But, as you did say not to be political. Im glad your family can sleep in peace at night in this country, even though you may be temporarily paying higher gas prices because of Pres Biden. Higher gas prices = the cost of freedom.

Hearing your experience, may give me the final push I need to go get it! It also sounds like I would drive this vehicle very similar to your family, mostly driving around my area where I'm sure it would be far less than 80 miles a day. Honestly, I think it is because it is has become such a political topic. Here in California for example, come 2035 buying a new car, you are forced into purchasing an EV. It’s really a shame, knowing they truly are an excellent technology. But at least from my point of view, people should enjoy the technology advancements, without being forced into them. In today’s day and age, everything unfortunately has become a political move. I am convinced that if politicians wouldn’t have taken part in the EV technology, we would have seen many more on the road today.

It's comical how you begin by saying you wish buying an EVs wasn't tied to political motivation, then seconds later give a "let's go Brandon" and call sanctions against Russia a "bonehead move". Many other countries also imposed sanctions, and I'm sure any sensible president, Rep or Dem, would have done the same. Innocent people are being killed and forced from their homes in Ukraine, but heaven forbid you have to pay a little bit more at the gas pump. Next time, keep politics out of it and just talk about the damn vehicle. Also, the US pays much less for gas than just about anywhere else in the world. That was a thoughtless comment.
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 2 месяца назад
It’s a simple answer. One, Sanctions had nothing to do with the political side of the EV topic. And two, considering we were purchasing oil from Russia, then impose sanctions on that very country we are buying our oil from? That was a bonehead move. It doesn’t make sense to punish a Country financially towards thing, then financially reward them - by buying oil. In a world of common sense, it’s pretty easy to understand what was going to happen. Our cost of oil went up, creating the highest gas prices in our history.

Last Fall my 2023 Bronco OB 2-dr 2.7 came in. I love it, but I kinda feel like it will be my last gas burner. And that’s ok. I take care of my vehicles and run them at least a decade. My 2015 F150 sold me on the 2.7 ecoboost. The truck has 152K on the clock now, and it also sold me on the utility of a pickup truck and how reliable/strong the 2.7 is with 5000 mile oil changes and high grade synthetic oil. Your honest tale of an EV skeptic being converted by how good the Lightning is convinces me more than any number of writeups by EV lovers. I’m an electrical engineer looking to sell out of Plano TX in a few years and head west to Kingman AZ. That might just be a good time to slip into one of these. Thanks for the write up.

Thank you for the positive feedback. These trucks so far have still been nothing short than amazing. My wife’s is nearing 9K miles on hers, and mine is sitting around 8500 miles. From the smooth drive, down to the interior comfort, I still believe these are the best vehicles on the road. I can’t speak for every EV, admittedly having very limited experience. But without a doubt, I absolutely love the Ford Lightnings. Both models we have - are the standard range. But it has not been an issue at all. I would highly suggest just taking a simple test drive at your local dealer. You will not regret it, trust me. In the beginning, I was very critical of these vehicles, knowing California’s demand for them come 2035. If I can be convinced these are as amazing as they are (knowing my political stance), it really says a lot.
@ecaseyburn

I stand with the same belief system as you. I’ve also owned 3 Diesel trucks that were all full size trucks. I own a Rivian now. It has absolutely ruined me for driving a Diesel truck again. If you truly need the power, distance, and towing for daily use, go diesel. If you occasionally tow like me up to 11,000 lbs, the EV trucks do really well. Charging while on the road is the ONLY set back. But that exact set back has taught me to slow down and relax a bit more while driving. Thanks for your video.
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 2 месяца назад
I couldn’t agree more. Not that I ever had a lead foot. But these vehicles are so comfortable, you really never feel rushed. I was telling my wife the other day, these trucks are comparable to my days on a cruiser bike. When the comfort is just right, a longer ride is always welcomed. Since this video, I’ve actually found a sweet spot with speed, for longer drives. If you can maintain a speed of 65 mph, you’ll actually get better range than what has been stated on your vehicle. Once a week I will leave my work vehicle behind, and drive my Lightning out to the job site. I drove round trip 203 miles yesterday. Upon my return, I still had 43% battery remaining. Converting that to miles, I had 103 miles left. I’m glad you are enjoying your truck. I’ve heard great things about the Rivian, but have never been inside of one.
@ecaseyburn
@ecaseyburn Месяц назад
@@californiahigh-desertconce7999 The Rivian is a great vehicle but, It needs a lot of work towards prepared for anything people. Needs a 220/240 AC Plug in the bed, needs more user control vs auto (Lights , cameras, wipers, etc.). Needs ability to lock rear wheels together ( Diff Locker). They will get there I hope for us truck guys! I will be buying rhe Ford as a replacement here in the next few months. I really like the Lightning, just wish it had just a wee bit more juice in the tank, lol.
@ecaseyburn
@ecaseyburn Месяц назад
@@californiahigh-desertconce7999 To be perfectly honest, the Rivian is getting returned because of rear motor issues. It’s a lemon. I still really like my Rivian Truck, but needs lots of changes to compete with the Lightning. I’m buying back into Ford these next few months or as soon as Rivian takes the Truck back. I still have really nothing bad to say about the Rivian vehicle itself, but I will say Rivian the actual Company is just that, a large billion dollar company that only wants profits. The proof is in their actions of the Lemon process. So hello Ford Lightning, glad to soon be back amongst the real truck team. lol. Again, thanks for the replies.

Lithium is abundant and EV batteries get recycled
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 2 месяца назад
Hopefully you are right. But I’d still say the sure bet will always be fossil fuels, considering the anaerobic decomposition process that occurs. Regardless of usage - Fossil fuels will continue to be available. But technology wise, I sincerely believe that batteries will eventually provide more mileage per charge, than today’s best gas/diesel powered vehicles. Once the solid state batteries become available, it would not be unrealistic to reach 1K miles in between charges.

Things change over time. Was it political when we went from horse and buggy to the automobile? The resisitence is from big oil. No, EVs by themselves aren't going to save our planet but its one step in the right direction away from fossil fuels. Battery technology is moving at an incredible speed and for now lithium is about 95% recycleable and every day our power is getting cleaner. You speak of "choices" but its really about "freedom" and freedom ain't free! We have a responsibility to take care of our planet for our kids. As soon as it becomes political then common sense goes out the window and it becomes tribal with no consideration of the future. I love my Lightning, ICE vehicles and gas stations look like relics to me now. No more oily mess from chaging my oil. No more searching for the cheapest gas. With solar panels on my roof I'm driving on sunshine and loving it. Isn't anything political about that.
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 2 месяца назад
I agree with much of what you’ve mentioned. But I will say, if it’s used or not used, Fossil fuel will never go away, considering the anaerobic decomposition process, making fossil fuels a natural earth substance. Arguments can be heard from both sides, and both provide valid points. As of this day however, nearly 70% of the world’s electricity is provided by the use of fossil fuels, making this immediate demand sort of asinine. But in contrast, a man back in the early 1900’s had a theory for a solution, that appeared to be very promising. Unfortunately his backing investors had a strong financial benefit in oil already, which ultimately shut down funding the man’s idea. But with advancement of technology, I couldn’t agree more. Back when leaded gas switched to unleaded, over time, it was proven to be a great transition. But as with many things, the backlash was heavily shown in the beginning.

Nope, no sarcasm. The problem is, when politicians enforce something, it always creates backlash. In this case, California has imposed a law, that beginning the year 2035 - all California residents will not legally be able to purchase a gas, or diesel powered vehicle brand new. They are removing the ability for citizens to have a choice. For that, I can understand. Although some of us are fortunate, and can buy into this technology, I cringe knowing my little girl will be forced into purchasing a $60,000+ vehicle when attempting to buy a new car. This goes along with all citizens heading into the real world struggles, when first getting into the adult world. Technology is an incredible thing. But having choices is an amazing feeling. @Cabron444 yeah, I’m sort of a fan of both. Actually all guns for that matter. The only knock on Glock that I had, especially going for the Glock, 30, or the 29, is how thick it was inside the waist. I tend to appendix carry, so it left a little discomfort, compared to my others. I can’t attest though, both have fired thousands and thousands of rounds, and never failed me yet. I do agree, Glock definitely has the long track record.

I got a xd9 service model... its accurate and built with quality... just bought the osp slide from springfield with a ct red dot. Glock is good if you into aftermarket parts. Also weights a few oz less
