I really find it beautiful how, even though the Prisoner never actually makes it to the eye and neither of you see the new universe, he has hopes that carry through. This time, you're the one with answers to questions that he asks, even if he doesn't stick around to find out. The last you see of him is the projection staff essentially thinking, "Maybe, in another life, we could have been friends." The last image of the game altogether with the DLC is the reassurance that, yes, there will always be another campfire.

I love that the scout probe can be in the next universe. I'm just imagining the next universe's version of the Nomai going absolutely wild over this little portable camera with a lamp and, presumably, a black hole warp core? in it, going "wait, this thing's older than the universe, what does it mean!?" And what it means is someone saw a giant vortex in the sky, thought "maybe I should take pictures of what's in there before I just jump in" and shot a camera at it. A very, very long time ago.

"Or slowly make your way back through the white hole station, which isn't much better (than waiting to die in space)" ...Wait, did you not discover the control downstairs that turns on the rotation? There's a track the station can use to spin itself, making it come into alignment with Brittle Hollow quite a lot faster than it otherwise would. You just need to turn it on.

Fun fact: (achivement spoiler) If you decide to cut a chase short in echos of the eye by jumping into the river (or die in general), you get the achivement "You'll Never Take Me Alive!"

Echoes of the Eye strikes me as a master class in "Show, don't tell". It frustrates me to no end that I can't point folks at it without heavy spoilers, but I appreciate your summary of the base experience, as well as the entire scope of Outer Wilds as the adventure. Thank you kindly, and keep up the impeccable work, boss 🐻

Went through like eight "analysis" videos of this wonderful fucking game which all turned out to be step by step explanations of the story and nothing more. Yours is the only one I've seen that actually unpacks and talks about what themes are on display bravo

Immortality is still the goal. This game had cemented my belief that the ultimate suffering should and will be conquered.

Saw a great post about each of the Outer Ventures astronauts and how ironic their situations are. MAJOR SPOILERS Esker is on the astral body closest to home but he's the loneliest, wishing for more company. Chert is the only one to figure out on his own that the universe is dying and the sun will explode. Chert has a meltdown over this and naturally, he's on the planet closest to the sun which is the problem that is freaking him out. Feldspar is in the one planet where Feldsparring your ship is the thing that destroys you. You have to do nothing to get through and Feldspar tries to stunt fly his way through, which strips him of his ship, the thing he's best with. At least it's a nice break for him. Gabbro is the chillest mf in the galaxy and is on an upsetting planet which is constantly storming and picks up entire islands to toss into space. Gabbro is just so cool it doesn't bother him in the slightest which is badass, you go Gabbro. Riebeck is a nervous wreck afraid of space that is sitting in one spot since his courage ran out. Now he is suspended above a black hole which spits you into deep space, while the planet literally falls apart around him. His fear-induced inaction is going to take him to his greatest fear. Then there's technically yourself, since you can talk to yourself at the center of the ATP if you end a loop in there. You're trapped in a 22 minute time loop and you find yourself sitting at the very machine powering it.

The black hole in brittle hollow can also be really cool, and absolutely suck. It’s gravity has saved me a lot from the momentum letting my fling myself into Riebeck’s gravity channel and saving me a bit of time.

I think in the OW documentary Alex B did mention that rumor mode made it into the game when someone had the thought “let’s just add our planning board into the game”. So, rumor confirmed?

I've been wanting to watch this ever since i watched the faith in outer wilds video but I hadn't finished Disco Elysium yet. I finally did recently and just watched the video and it's one of the best video essays on the platform Shame it didn't get as much traction as the outer wilds one it deserves so much more

This is the most beautiful video ever made. I think you should know that. I was not a man of faith; of ANY faith. But your video gave me a little something to believe in. You and your ideology has become my faith. You gave me the greatest part of myself, something I was missing for years. You gave me faith, even if it's only a little bit. And all we need is a little.

I'm gonna start off by saying that I've never played outer wilds. And I'm also going to say that i refrained from watching this video. I'll make sure I come back after I play it. Most importantly I'm a new found Christian and I just gave my life to Christ. I've strayed away from video games and am tryign to focus on my faith. I've kinda trailed off recently and have been going back to my old ways. But after looking for a game like subnautica I came across this game. It sounds pretty amazing and the reviews are just outstanding. But theres so many religious undertones in everyones review, and how it invoked a spiritual experience for them. So I decided to type in outer wilds religious in the search bar just to see what came up. And now I'm here. I'm very curious what your take is on this game because it seriously has struck some kind of cord within peoples souls. But I jsut felt compelled to leave this comment before my first and "only" play through. I get the feeling that its going to help me back on my journey with faith and just wanted to share that with you before doing so, because your comment section as well as the title of this video is what convinced me to buy the game and try it. Cheers

Finally an Outer Wilds video that doesn't just summarize the game's story and events, but an actual analysis, and such a deep and well-thought-out one! Loved every second of it, great job!

It's wonderful to have watched this, you have a very clear and concise way of writing without losing any emotion. Loved how you included and acknowledged other videos on outer wilds but still managed to make a video of your own. I cannot get over "You are passengers of the same river, stargazers, looking into the sky with the same wonder. You are both parts of the universe, witnessing itself".
