I know about each of them. However, Hades is much more story-based, so I included it into "Indie" video. Bastion and Transistor are nice, but I don't know much about them. And Death's Door, Broforce and Magicka are not roguelikes. I completed all of these three. Thanks for sharing about your favourite games anyway 😉.
Why? Card games are fun sometimes. Anyway It's just my opinion. It's not very based on it. There are only about 3-4 cards in hand, so it isn't very important there. But Thanks, Glad that I helped.
I have timecodes in description. And as I know, they should transfer on the RU-vid timeline directly. I have them on my computer. So, maybe try reload the website. All timestamps are with names of games and not only numbers as someone does.
I know half of them, and will check the other half maybe later. EtG and Dead Cells are absolutely insane and classical representatives of roguelikes. I didn't liked West of dead much. Looked hype, but too repetitive gameplay. It's not included in video, but I played it just several days ago. Game bugged and one boss was unkillable and when I opened game second time my heals didn't refilled, so this run failed. But still, I made a lot of progress with it. For real first time hearing about Gato Raboto and Phantom Abyss. Maybe I'll check them. Hope that you will find some interesting games for yourself to play in this video.
Yea, I know about it. Already in my wishlist.Looks interesting and a little creepy. However, I haven't played it yet and haven't heard much about it. So I didn't included it. Maybe I will play it later.
No way that just one person mentioned Noita down in the comments Why you MUST try it? Well, it's the best game of magic ever done, every aspect of the game to be such a good game it's amazingly thought and so well implemented. The way the lore it's implemented, the way the game teaches you HOW to play, the difficulty system and, the most important and funniest part of the game, the spell crafting. It's definately the absolute best game based on magic ever done and probably even with new game releases, will keep up being one of the best.
There are 2 people, who mentioned it. And now you are third. Seems like it's really good game, if so many people talk about it. But I haven't tried it yet and haven't heard much about it's gameplay and lore. Maybe I'll try it later one day. Do you think it's better than magicka? It literally has magic in title 🤪🤔😮
For me personally, if a rogue like doesn't have plot progression, I lose interest super fast. That's why for me Returnal and Hades are all time greats.
Yep, for most players right now progression is important in keeping interest. I also prefer when new things unlock or new mechanics are introduced with time.
Why does everyone on youtube all agree on exactly the same games? I could see some people liking it, but how can A Short Hike be everyone's favorite game? Am I real?
You are kinda right. But it's just a small nice game. It's probably not favourite for many. But a nice including to such list, because of it's uniqueness and not standart gameplay.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Hades. Over the past year I've personally been playing a lot of survivor likes, but I'm also a fan of some of the traditional old school rogue likes, and I've currently got an Angband run in progress.
I know about Hades. It's a great roguelike. But, in my opinion, it's much more story-based. So I included it into my "Best Indie Games" video and not in this one. Survival likes are special, but they easily can get repetitive, so other roguelikes are also very cool.
Hades is overrated if youre looking for purely gameplay stuff. imo the constant dialogue starts to get in the way of gameplay and the novelty wears off.
Some of this games are hardly can be called "indie". Like, Song of Nunu is a game about character from League of Legends, so it was sponsored by Riot Games from the start. If you say something like "indie is about size of the game", then Hades and Hollow Knight are too huge for this. Anyway, thanks for this pack, many interesting things found here.
You are welcome. I agree that Song Of Nunu isn't very indie. And Hades and HK are certainly indie. They even become one of the most classical ones. People have worked on them for a long time, but they are still indie, I guess. I tried to include all games that are interesting in similar price range.
Thats dumb asf. Just cause its bout a character from a known franchise doesnt make it non indie. The studio who made it is relatively new to the scene and has 50 employees. Riot didnt sponsor shit they published, difference. Even so, if they did the studio is still indie. If i have a studio of 3 people and wanna make a dbz game and bandai publishes my game, it doesnt make me not indie, all i did was pay for the license to use the characters ?? Name a game from tequila works without google, i bet you wouldnt be able to. The only game aside from nunu youd know is probably the Groundhog movie sequel vr game, but thats it. Theyre indie asf.
Thanks a lot for this pack. Do you know any games that have some sort of mix of tactical and autobattle mechanics? For example, tactically put your units in some order and then they will fight for themselves. Like Despots Game. And not usual auto-chess games, not intrested in pvp. Rogue-like or story-based game would be much appreciated.
You are welcome. Many cool strategy and tactic games I know are based on turn-based mechanics. But you probably should check out Monster Train, Door Kickers, Gladiator Guild Manager, Legend of Keepers and Wargroove. Maybe something will interest you.
ooh, wall world looks really interesting! I'll definitly check it out! My absolute favourite roguelike would be Astrea: six sided oracles, the gameplay is fire and the art is gorgeous
Thanks! Yea, I know. It certainly worth trying. I recently found out about Astrea. Now it's relaxing in my wishlist. What would you say? Does it have many differences with Slay The Spire? I saw dices, which look interesting. And of course, art is beautiful.
Fun video! Surprised you didn't mention Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's a very fun rythm based roguelike with dozens of hours of playtime. It's also very cheap on sale, so I'd recommend giving it a shot!
Thanks! I know it, have about 5 hours in it. Interesting mechanic, but I didn't liked it very much. I played it a long time ago, maybe it would be more fun now.
Nice video! I've learned of a few games I want to check out. But saying that, these games are normally classified as Rougelike-Likes. As long as you're listing these - you missed "Hades". True Rougelikes would be stuff like: Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup, Tales of Maj'Ejal, Rift Wizard and Path of Achra. And I'm sure im missing a few. Anyway - Great vid, keep it up!
Thanks! Yea, I know. So called roguelites. I think they are partly more fun to play nowadays. You know, you can feel progress and new stuff and mechanics unlocking. Hades is much more story-based, I guess. So I included it in another video of mine about indie games. To be honest, I haven't even heard about ones, which you gave as example. I'll check them. Thanks for recommendations. Sorry if you looked specifically for them. Have a good day!!! ;)
@@_Akior_ The ones I mentioned are niche games in a lot of ways, and most people will find them too rough around the edges, or the graphics too basic, the gameplay too needlessly complex. But I love them. While I do specifically look for more traditional Rougelikes, dont worry, I still loved your vid and found new games to play. I'm playing Wildfrost right now! (I just remmembered. Theres also "Rouge Book".)
atomicrops is easily one of the best games ever for me, but beware theres something wrong with the save from the nothingness it delete itself its VERY frustating.
bruv, you cant label the video rougelikes without referencing ANY og rougelikes (ADOM, Nethack, CoQ, etc...) dont get me wrong, excellent list, but by definition all rougelites
Thanks. To be honest, I haven't even heard about these, which you gave as an example. But I'll check them. And I guess there are at least some roguelikes here, aren't there? If you searched specifically for them sorry. But thanks for sharing about og ones ;)
Ok man, i was wrong ^^ sorry bout that :p i honestly skimmed the video and posted a dumb comment Although, i hope you got some good game suggestions out of my rashness ^^ Im a bit old school with my definitions
Dungeons of Dredmor is another great top-down dungeon-crawling RPG and it's even turn-based (kinda). Very good list sir I appreciate the effort, I'm happy to say I've got most of them but I'll check out the rest soon.
Thanks! Glad to hear that. I'm proud of you. Good Luck checking all of them and completing them. ;) And thanks for recommendation. Dungeons of Dredmor looks interesting, but quite old. Maybe I'll play it later.
@@_Akior_ has it´s own style and mechanics , dieing is part of the Game. it is the hardest Game i ever have played . i love it , totally worth. but u need after some trys tutorials you-tuber FuryForge is good.
It's always nice to look up one of the games on this list and see it's already in my wishlist. I'll share my all-time favorite of the genre: Star of Providence (formerly known as Monolith). It's a twin-stick shooter bullet hell with amazing pixel art and a stellar sound track, I can't recommend it enough.
Thanks! Yea, I know. Happens to me also sometimes. I have heard about Monolith, but haven't played it yet. Maybe later. I know that this is a good game. Probably better than some in this list.
No offence, first time hearing about it. Thanks for telling me. Looks like something similar to Hotline Miami, but with roguelike elements and more forgiving gameplay.😮🔥
Thanks a lot for the view. I hope you found something ineteresting for yourself. Type in comments other great games, that I haven't mentioned in video. By the way, which of them is your favourite and how many time you spent in it?😉😉😉
To be honest, I played maybe like around 19-20 of them. There's a lot of games to play, you know. About Some of them I found out in the process of making this video. But my main task with it was to quickly show that there are such games, and which of them look interesting. By the way, steam reviews are based on average opinion of many players, so they are kinda reliable source of info.I understand that they can be fake, but Steam fights with that.
Very questionable list. Many overrated, bland or straight up weak games. And yet no something like terraria, isaac, spelunky, darkest dungeon, celeste, etc. Just boring "steam store page" description of games instead of personal opinion or analysis of why this games is good. Meh.
Thanks for your opinion.I know that this video isn't perfect and I'm just a beginner youtuber, but hey, man! I'm trying. Also I know that some of the games arent very good, but after all its just personal prefferences. I delayed some of the games for another video, which is centered on roguelikes. I like darkest dungeon very much and have almost hundred of hours in it by myself(91,9 if to be precise) With this video I tried to just quickly show viewers that there are such games, and which of them look interesting.
Nope. However, I heard a lot about this game, but postponed trying it and watching what it is. Now, when you mentioned it, I checked. Looks interesting and unique. Maybe I'll try it later on. Thanks for reminding about it.
Ok not gonna lie, i watched your last video! I could gather the point of what you were saying. But with this one, i have zero idea what you are talking about! Maybe put subtitles for your videos?
Thank you for checking other one. I understand. Hope you get the point in new ones. I don't know about subtitles right now. That's a lot of work and there are automatic ones on youtube. Maybe later I'll add them by hand in videos or simply try to speak more clearly. ;)
