i have watched a few of your videos, commands,Rip 1,2 and 3. watching this one now. Just wanted to let you know i appreciate you sharing such great training and problem solving videos. And you do a great job explaining everything. Thanks. I hope you share plenty more
Hey, Jerry, I was just curious about a few things.... 1. How much are your dogs for? 2. Can u train the dogs to work/herd chickens? 3. Do u transport or no? 4.Where did u get the LONG LEAD and Flag? 5. Can I train the dog to stay with the chickens? I will think of other questions.
I grow up on a farm and I had a boarder collie and I didn't like him bitting at there hell's so I trained him not to do that and he would sit and bark at the barnyard and the cows would come running to the barn and he would go through them to make Shure all the cows where there and if not he would go out and bring them In what a great dog thanks Chris
We have a border collie and blue healer mix. He goes to chase cattle but I do not know enough. I enjoy your videos. We can't get him to quit chasing. He brings them up for water. After they are done he chases them away.
Dude thank you. Just got a dog on the farm and she shows the ability. I've seen good working dogs but I've never learned to train stock dogs. Figured I'd teach her to play hide and seek. But she already calls off and gets down.
Yes, it's very useful to have some basic commands to control your dog. I'm just using 'Come, Go, Stay/No' and body language to communicate to my dog and often we have misunderstandings or mistakes, so trying to not use her help much, but when she's doing right it's a real help (getting chickens into the run or helping to catch escaped bunny or quail without hurting them).
I have a border collie corgi mix and i work on a farm with a large herd and usually i have to chase cows around and my dog is a house pet and needs more stimulation so i was trying to find things to teach her as far as herding and this is quite helpful she picks up on commands so quick she is super intelligent thanks
I have a black nose cur n he’s barely getting started . . This helps a lot . . My dog is similar to how this dog is. . The tips u have r great. !. I can’t wait to try this . .
At what age do you start each of the commands? Our blue heeler puppy is 9 weeks and has come to me and sit down pretty well. Now we are working on down.
Been watching these cattle dogs for at least a year, and haven't gotten tired of em yet. This was the first time to watch your dog. She looks great. What is it they say: "It's Best Not To Fix Em Till They're Broke". Lol That would be my issue with owning a dog. I've been accused of being a bit meticulous. So you can likely make sense outta saying I'd likely need to quit fixin, when its not broken. Well then, Take Care, Stay Warm Stay SAFE Enjoy the Big Birthday Party!
I like what you do with your dog, I had sheepdogs in Western Australia. One of my dogs was just amazing in the paddock and yard, she knew more about doing the job and was used by other farmers in the area at a shearing time. Look at this unit to improve your water on the farm www.powergrwater.com thanks for your time. Nigel
I have a blue heelerxstumpy tail cattle dog. He is amazing at listening he is glued to my hip listens to sit stay and lay down when he starts to wander which is very very rare he comes when i call. my only problem is he is completely uninterested in cattle which is upsetting considering we work for a ranch that has 600 head and as much help is the best. I did take him through a herd of heifers and he didn't even look at them his eyes are GLUED on me constantly. If i ride a four wheeler he runs and barks and nips at that. Im just starting to get disappointed and loosing hope do you think he is a dud or is there still a chance. (he is 8 months old we just got him about a month ago never been around cattle.)
