If you're looking for a magic fix, you wont find it here. If you want to know what really works to get results when working with your horses and building your horse business? Well, you're in the right place. So first, welcome!

Everything I share with you in my videos is proven to get results whether that is horse training or business development. I will never teach something I have not personally yielded positive results from before. My goal is to save you tons of time and frustration by sharing with you exactly what I have found to work, but you must still go put in the work with your horses or in your business if you want the results. There are no shortcuts.

So if you value an approach that puts the horse first, that builds a business that works for you, that firmly believes horsemanship is not just a way to train a horse but its everything we do with our horses and in our own lives- I'm dang sure glad to have you here and be sure to hit subscribe so you dont miss our next video!

Wow, @Elenaaah...I'm only around 21min into this presentation, but he seems to be doing a pretty good job with this mare (hopefully he doesn't do something silly later in the video:). She's a bit agey to be just starting, so she's going to have some fixed opinions, and that's going to add to the challenge. That being said, I don't see him doing anything I'd call "too aggressive." School teachers and college professors, in my experience, can be more demanding of their human students. Drill instructors most certainly ARE more demanding. How do you start an aged horse?

New title idea: harassing a mare until the horse is exhausted enough to put up less of a struggle.
@s.b.5259
@s.b.5259 21 день назад
You think the horse is tired from trotting a few circles? Horses move constantly. This horse isn't physically tired, just got some mental work to feel better about the whole situation.
@Elenaaahh
@Elenaaahh 21 день назад
@@s.b.5259 No it's tired from fear and stress Einstein. Horses have sensitive hearing and are herd animals, this horse is alone and in a loud/stressful environment. It's okay to do this to horses but if you did it to a human you would be in jail? Please produce a molecule of shame and an original thought before replying.

It makes sense in general to not ALWAYS correlate age and education but, if you were to pick a horse, all from the same ranch, to take on a ride through whatever event and all you know is age, I feel age can be an indicator. It's not a guarantee but age=education is more LIKELY to be true. The longer a horse is alive, the more likely it is to have had some type of formal education. Just my 2 cents

I have liberal friends who actually support the people Colton is talking about. These people actually HAVE horses and love them! I keep pointing out that the PETA and other groups want to KILL our horses! They don't want to release them, they want EVERY Domestic animal dead! As well as anything that has become feral! These people are deadly serious! Personally I think they, and a lot of other people nowadays, are bat-shit crazy! As to my Liberal friends, they are sadly brainwashed into this stupid frame of mind. By the time this kind of person sees the truth, their horses, dogs, cats, even the goldfish, will be killed by PETA and the rest of these Leftist nutcases! By that time it will be too late and the horses gone. As far as the horse industry is concerned, the horse's lot has improved immeasurably in the past hundred years. These crazy Animal haters (yes, they secretly hate animals! Why else would they want to kill off all domestic animals?) are dangerous. You need to be VERY CAREFUL to the charities you send money to. Organizations like Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) are frauds! They are in the business of getting rid of domestic animals. Like Colton says the insanity is attacking our country on a variety of levels. They don't want to just get rid of the animals. They want to get rid of commercial and private farming. They want to get rid of Hobby Farms. They want to get rid of your food garden in your back yard. These people want to kill seventy to ninety percent of the Human Population. I know this sounds hard to believe, but it is quite real and well on the way to be accomplished! Thanks Mr. Woods. This was an interesting rant!😁 I'm on the same page with you!

It's hard to be civil, much less friendly when dealing with antagonistic, emotional idiots, but that's the best strategy when confronted by their kind whether in person, online, or otherwise. Counter lies with truth while remaining calm and humble. I'm not particularly good at this, but I'm always working toward this strategy because I've witnessed its effectiveness from the most persuasive communicators in argumentation. It's also helpful to be familiar with the variety of *logical fallacies* sufficient to point them out while avoiding them when sharing your perspective. We're at such a strange point where absurd notions bring us fights I couldn't have imagined in my early life. Now I have to defend my love of horses? Outrageous.

Get to the point that certain people want to control the money and world's food supplies by going through the horse business(what we spend on our horses, what we feed them and how race or show them. Our farms paperwork to confiscated without a warrant, on another man accusations alone no proof. WATCH OUT FOR THE HISA in the horse racing industry.

The extreme left try to present that regulation is in the best interest of our kids, food supply, animal welfare, money aka taxes, etc yet they only do it for the massive amount of control it gives them. And once they’ve got that power they’ll use it for their own benefit and completely tarnish the lives of those beneath them. It’s not some wild idea- it’s what is right in front of us and has happened throughout history

How about everyone who loves horses shut down the bad horse people businesses. How many pregnant mares end up at Bowie to be shipped to Mexico..or breeding horses that should never be bred.. There are even shady horse rescues who prey on our emotions so they could fund their personal lives. Trail riding businesses that abuse and starve their horses..When the public sees this of course they have a bad taste in their mouth about horse ownership and will side with those trying to shut down the horse industry..It's a big mess.

Hi Colton, I listened to this video last night and kept you in my thoughts and prayers. Faith is really all we have and it will always be tested and that is how we know we have it! It is the greatest gift to believe that no matter how helpless and lost we feel, God is with us and we are becoming stronger through each trial. God Bless you and your family! Also I am going out to work on yielding the front shoulder today and hope God gives me patience with my confused older horse. I think he (my horse) wonders what crazy thing I am asking this time😘

@coltonwoodshorsemanship hello. I have an opportunity to work in the equestrian center at Lake Erie college and get free tuition. It is a full time position that pays 16/hr plus full benefits. I would need to pay for housing which costs about 1300/month because I have 2 dogs that will be coming with me. I have the first year of housing already saved up from my full time barn job that I worked last year. I would like to study equine training and English riding or equine business administration what is your advice for me please? I am 23 years old I have never lived away from home. The college is 1 hr from home and I feel good and ready for the opportunity if I were to be selected for it, the college accepts 1 or 2 students per year. Thank you. I enjoyed your video.

Hey Kathryn- I’d first start with: what is your big vision/goal?? (It’s OK if you don’t know exactly, but you want to at least have some general direction). Per you comment- there’s a big difference (needed skills) between a training career or a business admin career in the horse industry. If you’re not really sure what you want to do- you may be better off going and working for different equine businesses for 6months or so to gain experience and find what you do and don’t like. That would give you real hands on experience, knowledge and allow you to make $$ as you navigate your career choices. If you do have a pretty clear vision of what you’d like to do- then I encourage you to look at the program your considering very objectively and ask yourself ‘is this program going to help me develop the skills i must have to be an asset, respected and wanted by horse industry professionals?’ Horse professionals are ultimately the ones that’ll hire you so that matters a lot. I caution folks with university programs because they teach in utopian perfect world scenarios- not real situations and realities in the horse industry. Most, not all, university programs do not properly prepare students alone and if one decides to go to college, using their connections to get internships & real working opportunities is critical for making it worth you time. I wouldn’t get caught up on free tuition, them only selecting 1 or 2 students or those kind of perks- this decision is about you deciding is it the right choice for you. If you’re seriously considering a training career- I highly recommend www.professionalhorsemanschool.com as you’ll extensive get real hands on training & business experience to develop your skills. Wish you the very best!
