Old school r/c cars...old school backyard r/c track. How we did it back in the day. Watch as we restore, repair, race and compare everything from the 70's to fairly current. All video footage shot by the smartest 11 year old daughter in the world! Hope you all enjoy.
Back in the day I had a hornet and my mate had the falcon. The falcon was supposed to be a much better car, and maybe on a bigger track it would've been. But in our gardens it felt heavy and slow in comparison. The hornet is so simple and light. Also the suspension was way too stiff on his falcon. But the hornet rolls easily if you're not careful. Good times
My first real rc car! Found it for $47 in an rc airplane mag. Saved up for it and my uncle built it. Drove it till the front tires split. Loved that buggy.
Found this out the hard way and to my cost, when very small splashes of either fuel, or wet exhaust filth spoiled my beautiful candy blue paint job on my 1/8th Tamiya Mini 🤦🏻♂️ I had painted it with either Pactra or Custom Colour and only found out after it was finished that the brand I used did their own aerosol nitro fuel barrier to protect paint. I had no idea how vital it was. After only a couple of runs the paintwork had blotches. Needless to say I bought the protector, but I’m still yet to sit down and mask the whole Damn body up YET again so I can treat it ☹️🤦🏻♂️ It’s just languished in an RC bag for years. So always use paint protector on nitro cars fellas 👍🏻
Nice selection/collection 😎👌🏻 You’ve done really well to track down all three. 👍🏻 I only have the 935 (plus a static 934) so far. Do you think you’ll keep collecting the early cars like the Countach, the LB Celica and the P34 ?
You and me both😆👍🏻 Re your dried tires, in case you’re not aware, a good way to revive them a little is to remove, clean with a mild warm soapy solution and then store overnight in a polythene bag in glycerine👍🏻 Wipe off and refit and it gives them a bit more life if you catch them soon enough. 😎
You’re neighbors are ass holes and petty as fuck if they gon whine bout some lil rc track on your own property not like it’s a full blown motorbike track L neighbors but cool track I love it
@MrBoomtheroom Would have been an absolute blow out with silver can vs technigold. This was more of a challenge of suspension. One thing for sure is....it's been our most controversial video.
Im curious what you race on that track? I am building one I think tenth will be a bit crowded but the Grom series and that size should be perfect for what I have
I remember all the upgraded parts from CRP and Thorp I used on the Frog. Never had an issue again with the Thorp diff and driveshaft upgrades, which I also used on the Blackfoot back in the day.
Well? Did the waterproof sealer keep the jumps alive?? Also, how do you like the lane width? Is that 6’? Are you running 1/10 scale? Thanks for these vids, excited to get going on my backyard track!!!
@Bonurges It did. That being said the ramps have storage, so that's been a big factor. We are on 10th scale and it is OK for two cars....no more. Go wider if you can. Really appreciate it!
Springs are to firm. Looking good but... I did a nice 3D rear shock, body and wing all in one mount . Print in TPU the mount and wing protects it so much.
I never had the original RC10. I had the JRX2 instead, which I did think was a better car at the time. I wish I still had my JRX2 but younger me sold it.
My first car was a super champ. I remember it like it was yesterday. Christmas of 86. I was 8 and I spent the rest of the day outside in the snow. Outside of 30 minute breaks waiting for the my pack to charge. I also remember the first time I charged the back by myself and over charged it and burned out the speed controller. Boy I got in trouble. Loved that car. Was slow but a tank.
@MontySeeMontyDo That's a great story! Thanks so much for sharing it with us brother. The idea for the channel was to get folks thinking about the best days of RC.
Thanks so much. The Tammy cars are how I got involved in all of this and why I love RC so much. I can clearly remember sitting at the kitchen table with Pop (rip) and watching a Hornet grow from what looked like a bunch of bits to me. Sorry we have been shy on content...but we have some life stuff in the way right now.
