I’ve just got the bobcat. As soon as I saw these I knew how good they are. These are incredible value for money because their American counterparts are nearer £500 and £600 for these types of ultralight tents
Big fan of the original Bobcat. I've got one of the Zpacks single person tents, but it's not very roomy. if you are 6ft. and it can let in water depending on how flat ground is, I think it would have been good if they could make it in Olive colour, but maybe it adds weight, and getting under a kg is important,
Pole tent might be more technical to put up, but they stay up. Stronger in storms, don't get affected by air pressure due to hot and cold days or burst
rubbish demonstration when you can use an electric air pump to put it up and some of the air tent have all of the air channels connected so no disconnect/reconnect this makes this a complete win for air tents other than weight. But looking at this you would think that the air tent is not a clear winner.
Thanks for this. My garden tent got ripped by a very playful neighbour hood cat chasing squirrels above my tent. A few rips from ther nails 😮. Water kept dripping in when it rains . I will definitely try this. ❤🎉
Why create such a short video and not actually show us the bags properly - how deep is the drop pocket, it is "maybe for a compass or a book.."? thats a pretty wide difference in size objects, and a relatively narrow zip.
guy lines are meant to be in line with the poles and also the seams, all you are doing is stressing the tent seam and pulling the poles away from their natural shape.
What about the length of the awning rail attached to the van? Mine is 7ft (213cm) but I can't seem to find an awning that wide; they're all 260cm or more. Does it matter?
Thank you for posting this footage. I just received my backpack here in Oz (bought sight unseen - not available here in Australia) and had no idea how many extra features the pack had nor how to access them. Love my Terabyte 30 for work but this kit is next level again. Looking forward to my ruck training with this and also getting out bush. Cheers :-) :-) :-)
Sil Nylon is great, but it does have its disadvantages which you don't mention. The tent can become heavy and the fabric go saggy when it absorbs water, sometimes you have to go out in the rain to adjust the tent to keep the fabric tight
Good tips. Thank you. One thing I've noticed with Tenacious Tape repairs is that they are flexible, but not stretchy. If a flexible and stretchy repair is needed, but one doesn't want to use Seam Grip, there is another product that works well. It's called Tear Aid. Tear Aid comes in two versions, one for vinyl (like inflatable rafts, pools, and toys) and one for cloth (like tents and waders). I learned about Tear Aid from the repair staff at Big Agnes (manufacturers of tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads). They steered me to use Tear Aid rather than Tenacious Tape, and I have used Tear Aid ever since learning about it. All three products work well, but I like the ability of Tear Aid to hold extremely well, seal completely, remain flexible, AND stretch. It's great stuff!
I have broad shoulders and chest and my Patagonia synthetic and down mid layers are a large and fit me perfectly. Rab states this is a regular fit jacket when it is actually slim fit. So after seeing good reviews for this jacket I ordered a large online from the US ( I am in Australia). The large is way too tight around the chest and tapers down the torso like a Women’s jacket. Is feels far too restrictive on, particularly when I wanted to use it as a mid layer for skiing. Rab in Australia refused to swap it for the XL so I’m stuck with a $300+ jacket I can’t use. Rab wont be getting anymore of my business. I’ll stick with Patagonia who really look after their customers.
im a 65 year old pensioner who in the past has always done heavy duty boots but i have a broad foot and artheritis so dont do the milage any more normally i take a size 11 but none were in stock at the goutdoors loughbro store so i tried a 12 but they fit a treat .Nice and soft underfoot . all things considered try a larger size than you normally do ....glad i did
Got the bobcat .I'm out in it for the first time next week .for me the bobcat is the gem of the range as it provides loads of space for 1 man and his kit at less than 1kg .it could also sleep 2 people if you drop the inner out and put a ground sheet in instead .as an emergency shelter .dog can sleep in the porch .
