I followed the video instructions for the hood and it certainly didn't come out like yours. What did I do wrong? I did the rectangle and stitched the head and side (w curve) but when I look at the finish, it's way too narrow as a hood and does not fit the neck. Curious...

Please use any color beside dark blues , black or to dark material to demostrate how to do things. Why do you use dark color?
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645 2 месяца назад
Yes, you're absolutely right that it's difficult to see the different layers and seams on the black fabric. The reason, though, that I used a dark color in this case was because my son didn't have light colored pants and this was the pair that fit him well and that I wanted to replicate.

@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645 2 месяца назад
To be honest, I don't know why I even put the pattern in there because it's really not even useful. It's actually a circle skirt pattern, not a cape pattern. In the end I just used it to make sure the fabric was lined up correctly when folded. Just follow my instructions for cutting the main part and then drafting the hood pattern.

@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645 3 месяца назад

@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645 4 месяца назад

@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645

It's to slip inside the stitched seam and pull through to rip out the seam without ripping the fabric, which would happen if you put the blade end in. A ball won't rip the fabric.

I don’t understand why you would throw away a perfectly good needle just because it’s old. It looks to be in good shape. The thread doesn’t look bad either.
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645
@cucicucicooecosewingandcra645 6 месяцев назад
The needle was a bit bent, so problematic for precise sewing. As for the thread, it's very thin and low quality. I had tried using it for sewing in the past and it kept snapping as I was sewing with it, so I only use it for temporary things, like basting very lightweight fabrics or other non-fabric things.
