I hadn't seen this movie in almost 25 years, and I forgot how good it was. Also, seeing it all these years later, I now realize that Eric Roberts was the good guy. 😊
@chirola9923 I'm half joking, but it's all about perspective. Here's Eric Roberts, a successful world and Olympic champion who overcame the murder of his father to build himself into a legend. He's running a successful school, training the next generation of champions. Then there is F. Murray Abraham. He killed Eric Robert's dad in cold blood. He then infiltrates Robert's school by assuming the identity of a dead man. A crime. And after Roberts finds out, he is told never to go to his school again. Abraham ignores that and shows up anyway. Which is criminal trespassing, another crime. Then, he tries to murder Roberts in front of his students. F. Murray Abraham basically plays a psychopath in this movie. 😆
Love this movie so much since I first saw it back then in the late nineties on tv! But also, does anyone here know the name of the group singing the "are you ready" song?
One of the first Eric Roberts I saw long ago and in my opinion one of the best.I don't know what it is but I always like him in the movies that he played the "good"guy I love but he is so good to being"bad guy"but he will always be one of my heroes because of all he went through in his life.
The Princess Bride presents The Karate Kid. The 80s had some of the worst editing and transition frames! Abraham and Roberts as leads, together... that's some cinematic alchemy! The nostalgia kept me to the end credits.
I once worked in the village NYC at a Sam Goody long ago and had the honor of meeting Abraham. I still remember our conversation. Out of the many public people I have met in person he remains my favorite. I respect him and wish him well.
Love this movie. Shame they never transfered it to DVD or streaming services. F. Murry Abraham and Eric Robert's finale falls into classics likes the count of Monte Cristo, Zorro, and Captain Blood.
Agreed....Awesome movie. Maybe the directing is flawed but the acting and choreo are solid. The only film where F. Murray Abraham has a genuine love interest.
Perhaps it's just me, but the guy playing Trevor having such a resemblance to Hayden Christensen, AKA Anakin Skywalker, is kinda an extra cherry on top for me, in addition to amazing performances by Abraham and Roberts. I mean, Roberts's mannerisms in particular, the way he moves, really sell me on the notion that he is a fencing champion.
