This channel is dedicated to sharing my experience in the sport of motorcycling from route planning, general maintenance, area roads to the care and upkeep of a motorcycle.
Rick, I gave this a try, and got to the end, and the save to a GPX.file for 2019 Honda would not work? So frustrating because I have received other GPX files that were built in Basecamp and was able to load the file to a thumb drive that easily loaded on my Goldwing navigation… grrrr! I was able to save to my reverse app, and this time checked that the changes I made stayed. But it will be a first time for following ‘Rever’ app rather than recording a ride. Since I checked the route to be correct I hope it’s as easy to follow as Honda nav. I’m leaving on Thursday am. Have a lot more to learn. JT
I went the Wingsoft direction, regretted it and invested in the Day-Long from Russell Products. Not inexpensive, but the most comfortable motorcycle seat I’ve owned in 50+ years of riding. I hope the seat is still working well for you. All the Best, James.
I also use a waterless wash if the bike isn’t very dirty. But, here in UK, I often have to ride quite a distance in wet weather and on roads that are covered in crud, so the bike sometimes is literally caked in mud. On a bike like the Gold Wing, there’s a lot of it that you just can’t get to without a strip down. So when the bike is really filthy, I use a product called S-Doc to clean the underneath of the bike, including the wheels. Spray on, often work it in with a brush, then spray off with a strong jet from my garden hose (like you, I won’t use a pressure washer). For the rear wheel, I’ll apply the S-Doc, brush it in, then rotate the wheel until I have cleaned all of it. When it’s time to hose it off, I start the bike on the centre stand and click it into gear at tickover, just while I hose off the wheel. Then, a regular car wash shampoo to wash off the top half of the bike and hose down with a gentler jet. Then, I’ll take it for a little spin to dry it out, so the water gets evaporated off by engine heat where you can’t get in, and the bike gets blown dry. If the roads are wet, I’ll use a pet dryer to blow dry the bike, but that is not as effective. But, when the bike is just a bit dirty from general grime that builds up even on dry rides, I’ll use waterless, like you. Just with different products that are available here.
I have a issue, I have the cardo packtalk to rider 1 on the bike, carplay one usb , a second bluetooth headset to rider 2 on the bike, we can hear music etc in and on the bikes speakers...but have no comms between each other, any tips?
Ok Rick… first my 2019 gl1800 dct: remove any and all previous pairings ( iPhone & Sena 20s).? My goal is to use car play-I want to hear everything in Sena 20s. Now where do I start?….
Very helpful video. I had been using Calimoto, but their subscription rate is now $80, which is more than I want to spend. Ironically yesterday morning I was on my way to breakfast with one of my friends and mentioned that the road we were on was a big road for motorcyclists. This is as we were between Mainville and Ringtown on PA339. If you haven’t had the opportunity, you may want to ride 125 south of Shamokin. Another great road through beautiful rural mountain scenery.
Many Thanks for your valuable instructions 👍👍👍 I have been struggling for quit a while to get this to work properly and contacted both the Honda dealer and the dealer that sold me the helmet and Sena headset, but none were able to fix it. The connection as hub made the difference, and allowed not only CarPlay to work, but fixed the problem with Siri and calling via the phone app in CarPlay. THANKS 🙏
Bonjour j avais pas mal de difficulté pour avoir Apple car play merci j ai enfin compris et réussi un grand bonjour de France (au fait cela fonctionne aussi avec Cardo)
I just watched your video. Very good. Would like to ask about your seat. It looks very nice and comfy. I have a 2021 dct tour and the seat is terrible fr any distance. What kind of seat do you have. Also do your mirrors indicate when someone is in your blindspot. That's something I would really like to have. Thanks for your time. Mike in VA.
Rick, which passenger armrest/backrest did you install on your GW. I have a 2019 DCT with the CORBIN High capacity trunk lid, and I'm seeing what options I have available THX Don
Congratulations, by far the best and most detailed video about Goldwing Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity. I have also connected two Sena intercoms for both driver and passenger and the only problem I have is that if I send the sound of the bike speakers to the intercom, only one of them receives it. Any advise or suggestion? Thanks in advance and best regards from a subscriber in sunny Spain…✌️
Got AC to work but now my rider to passenger intercom doesn't work on my Cardo. Any suggestions. I thought BT had to be on for intercoms but that doesn't seem to help either.
I've searched all over for that 6" cable and Best buy no longer sells it and Amazon doesn't list any. All of theirs are 1' or longer. Any idea's on where else we can check? Great video
Rick, where do you list your AV equipment? I have a Sean 50s, and no camera so far. so I don't know a little about the hook up for audio, intercom, video. I was able to pair the Sean to the motorcycle, and play apple car play off cellphone in the cubby. that's all I have so far. When speaking to your son is that bluetooth, or Mesh ? Yeah I am a newb to electronics, but actually have over 100,000 motor miles on the past 13 motorcycles combined. My Indian had nothing, the Honda PC800 before that had nothing just like the previous bikes. New Day New Me, New Honda, truly a reward for retiring in one piece. (well mostly). Ride safe and keep producing videos for dummies like myself. JT
First bike I had Navigation on. too bad it isn't a Garmin. I definitely got educated watching your video. I have that Hut too, but the Honda is in the garage....lol even though I bought it for the Bike, years before I took delivery of my 2022 dct. I will be trying what you said. (6000 miles last year and used the Navigation 1 time......thats going to change . this season goal is another 15-18,000. JT from just outside of Chicago.
Thanks Rick, 10 priceless tips that have clarified the issues I was experiencing with connectivity and how to overcome them. You’ve saved me a whole heap of heartache!
HeY, I am new to the GW world with a 2022 GWB DCT. I have already done (mistakenly) exactly what you described. Drove off with parking brake on…even smelt brakes! Figured it was a truck in traffic with brake issues. Nope! It was me! Lesson learned. Thanks for the great explanation and demo video.
