This type of racing is what drew spectators to the track. They also came to watch the match racing. None of this racing exists anymore so the tracks are closing. No radio ads to build excitement to compel people to come to the track and buy a ticket. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!! Watch any video shot recently and you will see empty bleachers. Empty bleachers also means no new racers in the pits!! Marketing is nonexistent with track owners and managers. The July Night of Fire races have turned into a joke. A couple of jet cars and maybe a wheelstander and that's all!! I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but it does not take a genius to figure this out!!
I grew-up in Lyme CT. and you could hear the drags going on all the way to my house some 20 or 25 miles away! Saw some pretty famous racers of the era there."Jungle" Jim Liberman, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, the "Mako Shark" Corvette, etc. That yellow 1960's split window Corvette was WILD ! I knew someone that had a yellow 1963 that was bone stock. It was fast enough as is. Too bad they're both gone now. Car was wrecked and he passed away a few decades later. That car today is worth somewhere near $200K or better.
It’s a great video. Watching my dad drive the Rosco rocket again. The hard part of watching the video is seeing my grandpa operating the tree. I’m miss him, he passed away too soon. Awesome video I hope to see more with my grandpa

This stuff is awesome. Hard to believe it has been 37 years since this was filmed. Love no throttle stops in the .90 classes. Keep the cool old stuff coming.
You can hear him lifting on the top end. That's what I don't like about Comp racing. They lift to keep their index from being lowered so it translates into a glorified bracket race.
