My grandoa has exactly the same. The jeep is in portugal now. Can't drive with it bc of the license plate. He tuned it and it has more dan 700 hp now 😂. He also mounted a metal frame for a hook (for boat) on it. Fully tuned now 😂
Well the ZJ did replace the wagoneer. :) ...........5.2 replaced the AMC 360. Love the ZJs as well. That 5.2 is a great engine and had factory fuel injection unlike carbureted wagoneers.
I know you probably won't see this, considering the video is 2+ years old now, but thanks for the overview! This might be my first car, my family is looking at one we found yesterday at a volvo dealer that we originally went to to look at a mazda cx-5 2018 or 2021 sport. The one we are looking at is slightly different, not having the Uconnect touch screen, but having power lock and windows. Thanks again for the video and one question, do you know if I could remove the control panel and replace it with the Uconnect one? Thanks again!
Sure thing. Thanks for watching. Subscribe and keep up with our newest videos. Good luck on the purchase. What a cool first car! Have not removed old factory stereo and replaced with the Uconnect one but I am sure you could do that. If you attempt to do that I would stick with factory OEM radio/Uconnect unit. Aftermarket stuff is not that great.
This particular Jeep has sold. However, give us a call at 940-808-2382 or shoot us an email at johnstonmotors54@gmail.com if you're interested in any of our other Jeeps or have have any questions.
Hey what is the material called next to the back seats in the back windows ,? It’s falling apart in mines and I was wondering if there’s a fix for that black material
We didn't on this one. It has been garaged most of it's life. They are original. On the ones that are faded though we just install brand new flares all around. If the hard top is faded we repaint them.
Beautiful jeep! I’ve seen a few of these Sahara’s with leather seats and Sahara logo. As far as I can tell, these weren’t available from factory. Any idea where these seats came from? Do the leather seats have any manufacturer info?
Thank you! Yes, the leather seats greatly intrigued us as well. They look factory but are not as we have window sticker for the Jeep and build sheet and neither list them. It lists the cloth seats, makes sense considering the back seat is cloth. They do look factory though. I believe them to have been a dealer installed option. Previous owners I have talked to (this is the 2nd time we have sold this Jeep) all remember it being that way from way back when it was new.
@@matthewespinoza4322 You might be looking for these. These are what looks to be inside the front bumper. www.quadratec.com/p/crown-automotive/retainer-nutsert-jeep-wrangler-yj-tj-unlimited-and-cherokee-xj
Have possibly one of the rarest SJ's, sitting on my driveway, here in the UK. AMC tried to have dealerships in Europe for about 5 years ('79-'83?) before quitting and going home. Not many of the Jeeps sold here during that time still exist, unfortunately. Most of the SJ's were converted to RHD by cutting the steering column under the dash, moving the top half to the right side and running a chain drive under the dash. The one on my driveway had the proper conversion, steering box, brake booster, column, etc all moved to the right side. In addition, as it is an '83, it has the aluminium bumpers, not the nasty chrome plated steel bumpers that peeled and flaked off. As far as i can tell, it's the only Cherokee still registered with the DVLA (UK DMV) for that year. Roof is fubar, but pretty much everything from the rain gutters down is in great shape. The floor pans are amazingly good, for instance. Just have to find someone who can rebuild the roof, and patch a couple other holes (fender, tailgate). Not an easy thing to do, over here, as no one wants to take it on (without a lottery win first)
That is not an easy thing to do anywhere. However, sounds like what you have should be preserved. Is it currently running/driving? Thanks for sharing. Would love to see some pictures of it.
This was my first car and has currently been sitting in our backyard since about 2017. No longer runs, last known problem was blown head gaskets. Paint starting to flake off. We’re in Houston so harsh sun and lots of moisture. I’ve had dreams of getting it back up and running but have yet to commit. Couple people have offered to buy it off me but can’t seem to let it go! I worry most that the underside has completely rusted out. We did not drain fluids prior to parking it so unsure at all about the condition of everything inside of it. Milage probably in the 150k range, I can’t remember exactly.
The head might be warped. I would replace the entire head with a new one. Especially at that mileage on a 2000 year model. It should run like a champ after that. Don't let it sit too long. That is one of the worst things for them. Have to make sure engine turns over if it has been a long time. All new fluids, new plugs, new battery, new tires, get all the old bad gas out and possibly replace or clean fuel tank. Would definitely be worth it if it's not rusted very badly. I would expect some leaks to reveal themselves once you get everything running and driving. Seals will give from age and sitting.
I want to understand:28 years ago, after last model of yj been produced, and now it still pricy. I think it should not be priced now more than 500$. Can you explain me why,yj still pricy after 28 years?
This one looks clean. I also have a 2010 GC Laredo North Edition, interior looked trashed up when I first saw it but I still bit the bullet. Fortunately that dealership did some last minute cleaning before handing me the vehicle. Are you sure that this year didn't come with Overland trim and the Hemi? Cause mine has the 5.7
