I agree that a good groom is so important to the horse for so many reasons. I’m sure that there was no intentional slight intended here and there is actually quite a bit of documentary coverage concerning Richie and Mr. Dixon. Eddie Sweat never got the attention in public that he should have gotten at the time. That’s changed a little bit now and he was included in a very important statue of Secretariat. The book “The Horse God Built” is a very beautiful tribute to Mr Sweat and other grooms of great horses. They say it takes a village to raise a child and, if you think about it, it takes a village to bring a horse to victory in the Kentucky Derby. Blessings to you!!
I’ve been tracking Rich Strike’s career since this win. What a disappointing time it’s been for the horse & his humans! Last Autumn, it was announced that he was retiring. Then a reverse announcement was made early this year. There’s been a great dearth of info about him since. I wish there was a Rich Strike website for info!
Every time I am down I look at this race and am motivated to give it my best because anything is possible. I absolutely adore Richie and now he gets to enjoy his retirement. The race of a lifetime and how grand it was!
Tapit Trice most talented horse in the field gate issues aside needs to avoid a brutal trip would of liked to see him draw an outside PP5 not thrilled with that if he avoids trouble he's finishing 1st under the wire the biggest threat to him Angel of Empire 14PP like his draw next the UAE Derby winner don't like his PP17 and Two Phil's my 4th rated horse don't like his 3PP as far as the horse who will go off the Derby favorite Forte 15PP I'm talking a stand against I don't like him in this specific race yes he's a solid horse 6wins out of 7 lifetime starts and he won the FLA Derby with only a C Plus performance with all that I don't see him winning this KY Derby if he beats me he beats me that's horseracing but I'm taking a stand against don't be surprised if he runs out of the money and worse OTB Off The Board which is what I'm predicting
And here comes Tapit Trice in 7th place and 9 and 1/4 lengths behind the winner Mage, the horse that Luis Saez was on that finished second in the Florida Derby before switching back to Tapit Trice, allowing Javier Castellano to be on the horse that wins him his first Kentucky Derby in 16 attempts. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. That’s the Run for the Roses.
Does anyone here know the true facts on why Jerry Dixon, Jr isn’t no longer Rich Strikes groom? I heard that it was about $$$. Sad if in fact that’s the real reason, because the Ritchie hasn’t come close to duplicating the effort he showed in last years derby😞
He must have been born here, no accent. English is his first language. I have much more respect for a contender that finds a way to one of our prep races. You get in and I'll include him.
Not so much, he has had Practical Move from the beginning. Could be interesting. Reincarnate is a grinder he won't win. Practical Move is a live horse.
@@toddfortune3480 they are talking about reincarnate. It's well known he's going back to baffert within a couple days of the derby ending. Baffert said his colts will run under his name in the Preakness
