Loved watching this Bio on Al. His comment on being the Court Jester of Rock 'n Roll is True- but he's much more than just that! Thanks for the joy you bring into our lives Al!
Being the train master I once spotted a guy standing, no, jumping, on the brake tube between 2 plat form cars. If the tube had broken he had fallen right down on the rail and sliced within a fraction of a second.... How I got him up I don't remember. One grab in the neck and one grab in the ars I guess. Remarkable how much force there was.....
3:02 - So sad to know Al lost BOTH of his amazing parents on the same day due to carbon monoxide poisoning. At least it was in their sleep and was most likely painless. They were both so proud of their "Weird" son.
The main mistake in this is that Jake Hooker was NOT the writer of "I Love Rock N Roll" He had a co-writer credit on the song by arrangement.... (in repayment of a small loan to the actual writer_ Alan Merrill_ )which dated to when the original version of the song was slated to be the B-side of Arrows 4th single, but it was flipped to an A-side and therefore got much more exposure (and generated more revenue) than had been anticipated, which increased exponentially when Joan Jett, on tour in the UK with the Runaways, saw the Arrows perform the song on their own TV show and loved it so much she resolved to cut a cover version. .. So Jake Hooker did pretty well out of that deal, and got credited as the writer of the song here in this documentary even though he had no hand in it at all
Oh my God, a rainbow?! RIGHT AFTER THEY GOT MARRIED?! XD I never had doubt that they were the perfect couple, but seeing that God approved the wedding just proves it!
UHF is absolutely brilliant. I was a little surprised when I read somewhere that it didn't do well in the cinemas. However, in the late 1970's, The Blues Brothers wasn't a box office smash either ... but, boy! Did that film make up for it afterwards! UHF and The Blues Brothers were - well - ahead of their time.
Wow I learned so much about Al watching this that I previously had no idea about. 3 grammy awards? So awesome! Makes me want to dig out my old Yankovic cassettes I used to rock back when I was little.
Weird Al is refreshing and I love that he is successful. He is the type that just makes you feel good and smile. More happiness and blessings to him and his family and career. Thank you for posting this video.
Watched the entire thing. I've always been a fan of Al. This is fucking awesome though. We the people keep him going for a reason. He's funny and we love him. From everything I've ever heard he returns the sentiment. Thank you Al.
Erlyk Dalkien Same. I fell in love with him the very first time I saw White and Nerdy, but it wasn't until Mandatory Fun that I became a huge fan. I saw two of his concerts this year. It was the first time I ever saw one of my heroes in real life, and the feeling of shock I had the first time I saw him was the best feeling ever. Hope I get the honor of meeting him someday!
I think Al and Coolio rift is a staged hoax staged by the record companies, it is ironic that Amish Paradise got attention and top 20 album for Al for the album I considered half finished thanks to the sticks up certain artist/ entities' ass.
