When I was in my 20s I had a job on an oil tanker. A co- worker younger than me still listened to some punk rocker stuff, Black Flag, Dirty Rotten Embiciles this song always stood out we had a blast listening to that stuff drinking and I hadn't heard any much punk rocker stuff I was Rush, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd ZZ Top I'm from Arkansas but had always heard of these guys they were actually pretty awesome. My friend and I jammed this stuff it was a really fun time of my life even though we were johnny come lately
Drinking and driving is a jamming song we got it, reverse psychology, Drink, don't think, drive, kill ! It's like Henry Rollins wanted us TO think before driving around drunk. "Get in a car with your buddies and wrap it around a tree" Henry did well for himself been in a few movies and did a badass song with Tony Iommi The Laughing Man in the Devil Mask. Had a solo album or 2 didn't he ? Anyway I like ole Henry
I swear the scene where Flea suggests "California"..was right out of me and my homies life. He was a NYC punk squatting wherever he could and really wanted to go West. I meanwhile was living with my parents and actually washing dishes at a pizzeria while on probation. Eventually he convinced me and in a couple months we were on a Greyhound. Wound up staying in Huntington Beach for a few months but he split back home about 3-4 months before me. Damn crazy times and memories. 😏
I taped it too, but my copy is long gone. Someone finally posted about 2/3 of it a few months ago. Thankfully the only bit I wanted to see again was there, the band Losers doing a song called Assassin.
When your young and dumb it's a party song. At 30 you listen to it and feel all the anxiety of all the times you drove drunk and didn't kill anyone or yourself.
I almost killed myself driving and drinking a month ago. I still feel anxious when I think about the car rolling. Left unscratched. Never fucking again.
@@nyktalgia6669 it's a shame that you had to learn on your own mistakes, good that nothing else other than your pride was hurt. Good for you for deciding never to drink and drive again, hope you'll stick to that
