I'm Marshall, I love watches and found a passion for watchmaking. I like to find broken or neglected vintage watches and bring them back to life, restoring history and letting someone enjoy them for years to come. I'm not a watchmaker by trade, but I do love the hobby and I hope you'll see why on this channel!
No, I wouldn't use the rusted disintegrating dial, because the rust and eroded material might be holding more moisture that could seep into the watch and ruin it again. Especially if it has aluminium in it, the erosion would spread regardless of moisture or no moisture.
Beautiful restoration, love it. Interestingly, when you trimmed the stem, it completely disappeared, curious if that took a few tries or if its movie magic haha.
I have enjoyed your videos of and on for several years, mainly because of your enthusiasm and the way you explain what you're doing. Anyway, i recently sold my Rolex after 30+ years and I'm in the market for an interesting, reliable, automatic watch, preferably something more interesting than expensive. Do you ever sell any of the watches you repair? Thanks. Jerry
My ex-wife has a 1970's "Seiko" ladies ' bead bracelet' (manual wind) watch. Each bead in the bracelet measures only 7mm dia. Into one of these 'beads' is inserted a tiny (7 jewels) Seiko Movement. only 50% (or less) the size of the Rolex you've just worked on - this would truly test your mettle. It still works & keeps reasonably good time, although it has never been serviced.
Marshall! Wow, sir! I can't believe you managed to fix that watch! LOL! No way, would I have the stability with my nerves to work on those microscopic parts! LOL! Nice work sir!
Marshall, I’ve been watching your videos for a few years as something relaxing to watch, I always love watching people make something regardless of what it is, I love learning how mechanical things work but I never really considered getting into the hobby until fairly recently, And when I say the hobby mean more so the watch collecting building/modding. And the reason I’m sending you this message.(and since this is an old video, I don’t know if you’ll read it) is that I’ve started watching a bunch of other watch related videos and content creators and honestly I keep coming back to you and your videos. I think you are the best at doing what you do. I really love the conversation you have with the viewer the relationship as it were, I find myself getting as excited as you do when you succeeded at some thing especially at some thing that maybe you have never done before and you seem so proud of yourself, On this one, I actually started clapping when you made the decision to disassemble the whole whole thing and send it back to the viewer so that he could have the enjoyment and fulfilment of achieving what you just did. I applaud you for doing that. Bloody fantastic. Your videos are a calming influence on me. Keep doing what you’re doing! Long time viewer first time caller.
