This channel focuses on Island Life on Tablas Island, in the Philippines.
I'm a pilot, sailor, mountaineer, family man and international traveller. I grew up in Australia, and met my wife there. She is originally from the Philippines, and now we live here with our 6 year old daughter.
I love creating videos, and this is my RU-vid Channel. Thanks for watching!

Hi Bernard. Thank you for you message, and your concern. All is well with us here on Tablas. I have taken a break from creating videos for RU-vid. I do plan to start a Season 3 of Island Life sometime in the future, but at this point I am focused on other areas of my life. I trust all is well with you and your family. Take care mate.
great adventure ride, congratulations Tim! and Andy's new tires had served its purpose. i think i saw him slide on one of your road trip..stay safe, enjoy life and cheers!
Yes, you can leave your boat on the beach here. But it is common courtesy to ask permission if you are going to park in front of someone's property for an extended period of time.
Haha! Thanks Bernard! Yeah, dogs are a constant problem, as too are other mobile obstacles here. I just try to manage the risk, and stay ready to do a maximum braking roll at any second. And, of course, hope for the best!
Jim you need to practice hiliganon language.good vlog you known now if where the secret way.hehehe but of course careful it so masukal na Daan.God bless
Looks like a fun! I thought I passed you in Odiongan one day this week either Tuesday or Wednesday, I was parked at Carmen’s Pantry take care stay safe.
Hi Maverick. I would recommend linking up with one of the resorts. They will be able to advise you on transfers, accomodation and transportation. Footprints Resort is near the main port facility, (about 25mins north), and is run by a lovely couple. You can find them on Facebook. I'd start there...
We have also had a ton of rain in Calatrava but it seems like San Andres and Odiongan has had very little. We are looking at a house in St Maria but I’m not so sure I’m fond of the other side of the island. I will share this with my friends so they can se the wonderful island we live on you edit way better than I do and I love the motives blogs take care
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I just asked around locally, and bought it near my house. It was locally made, so I'm not sure about Paraws in Cebu. I hope you find one! They're great fun, and easy to sail...
Thanks for the practical video. Unfortunately this drone is now in scam territory by the way it is advertised and priced. The one I have is called Quadair drone also known by numerous other names. I plan on using it for practice as the weather warms up. Cheers.
Well, I have been watching your videos over the last couple of days Tim, in no particular order. Looks like this is your first one, and just wanted to mention that you have been making them for almost 4 years now. 'tempus fugit' right ! I have not commented on the other videos, just your latest one, as I would like to catch up with you in person one day soon. I live on Tablas (since 2019) and was in Santa Fe last week, but didn't make it as far as Pili beach. It did however remind me of your Paraw video which I first watched a couple of years ago, and hence my video binge watching lately. Hope to talk to you in person soon, if that is ok with you. Best regards, Adrian
Great video Tim. I really love the way that the knife makes a 'click' sound as it is inserted into the sheath. It reminds me of watching my father back in the day who would create his own knives and sheaths, if I remember correctly the name is scabbard, mostly out of leather and some brass for that old authentic scabbard look. I will check out your other videos now. Regards, Anarcho
Because they eat the live corals, and kill them. If their numbers get out of control, they do long term damage to the reef. Controlling Crown Of Thorns numbers is an essential part of marine reef management. There are many good documentaries on this subject on RU-vid, if you are interested in further information about the damage they can do when they exceed a threshold population density. We studied our reef, and found the population density currently far exceeds the maximum recommended by marine biologists. So we decided to do a cull, to help maintain a healthy balance. Hope that helps...
Nice! I've always wanted to go into knife making myself. I hope you wore a mask when cutting and grinding the metal. Metal dust inhalation is hazardous. Keep up the good content and stay safe.
Thanks mate! Yeah, I wear hearing protection, and a KN95 mask for all hazardous work in the shop. I'll be upgrading to a 3M respirator mask now I'm going into knife making. Thanks for your concern. ☺️👍
Can you make a simple tutorial on how you operate the traditional paraw? It seems similar to all other crab claw type, but would like to hear your comments about its design. :)
Hi Bon, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately my paraw is currently dismantled, so I can't do a tutorial video. But it is exactly the same to sail as a Hobi Cat, where tacking is really tough. I often have to use the paddle to get the bow through the windline. Everywhere else it is the same to operate as any other small sailboat. It's happy in winds up to 15kts, but it doesn't like gusts. You really need to move your weight around to keep it level and avoid capsizing. I hope that helps. Happy sailing!
Great Video, thanks for sharing. I saw your video on the CRF earlier and when I get to the Phillipines I am thinking of buying one. I will be in Mindanao with my partner. I'm 97kg and 177cm, my partner is 60kg and 155cm. Do you think the bike would be ok 2 up? The roads are a bit like at your place and my budget will be limited to under 150k
Thank you Richard. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I am 189cm and 90kg. My wife, 8yo daughter and I can fit on the CRF no problem at all. We paid P132k for it, and we couldn't be happier. Fantastic machine for us.
