My HI is 25.8, so I could relate to your efforts. Your short game is good and you recover well. dangerous off your handicap, coming down. Great looking course too.
Brother in golf...your tempo/pace is too fast. I heard you say it "I need to relax". Relax my dude. I can tell you swing/putting stroke are tense and forced.
I noticed you do something many of my friends would do….you take a practice swing or 2, and then instead of stepping closer to the ball you simply lean over further, which changes your posture….try keeping your posture and shuffle into the ball at address ….. good luck!
Nice to see gameplay like this. It relates easily. Would be even nicer if you could also show the distance of each shot, or the distance to pin after each shot. Have fun :)
As a high-handicapper myself, through the first five minutes I was starting to get a little irritated. And then I saw the wheels start to fall off, and it all seemed so familiar. If you're ever in Rhode Island, drop me a line and we can stink up the course together, then go on a nice sunset cruise with some adult beverages.
John, as a fellow member of the High Handicappers Union I would have expected your utmost trust from the very start because we all know that the blow up is coming sooner rather than later 😂 It’s the mystery of being a high handicapper, play some holes like a 15 handicapper and others like a 45 handicapper 😂 Anyway, thanks for watching and if I’m ever in Rhode Island you’re first on my list 👍🏻
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper I be started playing again, and I felt every shot you made,so enjoyed watching real play,👍I’m playing in the morning at 7:30 at a private club, with my cousin who plays off a 4😳he given me a 28,👌,two there from his society,no pressure 😂I’ll let you know how I get on ,if you want🤔keep filming,I like to see how you progress 💯✌️
Glad to hear you’ve started back playing and remember the most important thing about tomorrow is to just have fun and enjoy it 👌🏻 Defintiely update me on how it went. Oh and don’t worry, the videos will keep coming. I’m already mid edit on the next one and I’m back out filming the following episode next Sunday 👍🏻
So nice to see somebody in my handicap range. The only thing I really felt was hindering you from scoring better, was you really rushing your shots. Then again you might had to, to stay in pace?
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed the content. And yes, I do tend to play rather quick, probably to my detriment. It wasn’t so much a pace of play issue on this occasion. I just don’t really like the feeling of standing over the ball for too long, too many swing thoughts creep in. Although I should probably take a little bit longer because playing quickly hasn’t exactly worked out so far 😂
Funny you should say that because I actually identify as an 18 handicapper 😂 Only joking, I feel like I’m reasonably consistent with driver thankfully 🙏🏻
Stick that hybrid in the bin. Try finding a comfortable "free throw" distance with a wedge and aim to leave those in instead of trying to hammer a hybrid 180+. Really enjoyed the video.
Mate, if I binned a club every time I had a poor round with it I’d have none left 😂 Would you believe that before this round I would have considered that hybrid to be my most consistent club. I think it just sums up high handicap golf that one day you can go out and forget how to hit it. I never really try to smash it to be fair. I know I only hit 170-175 so that’s what I’m usually attempting to do with 👍🏻 Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Cheers mate, I think I was just a little shell shocked after the first three 😳😂 Eased into it after that and was overall reasonably happy with the score in light of the conditions 👍🏻
Great vid and and I have 2 questions: 1) What shot tracer softwatre do you use and does it track the balll automatically? 2) Forgive my lack of knowledge here, hole 5 was stroke index 7 (par 3) and with a handicap of 22.6 shouldn't a 5 be 1 point for a net Bogey? I am new to stableford scoring so just wanted to double check.
@JWD65 Hi mate, glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks for watching 👍🏻 I use shot tracer pro for Mac. Yes it can track the ball automatically however I find it doesn’t work well with grey skies etc so there can be a bit of manual adjustment needed. But I highly recommend the software 👍🏻 So my handicap index was 22.6 which translated into a course handicap of 26 so that’s what I was playing off for the round. So on stoke index holes 1-8 I actually had two shots, hence on 5 the double bogey was actually a net par. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper Thanks for the reply mate, I never knew you could do a calculation for course handicap that was different from your playing handicap. Do you use an app that works this out for you or do you use that compicated formula?🤣
@@JWD65 what county are you based in mate and do you have an official handicap index? In Ireland, we use the Golf Ireland app which automatically calculates your course handicap using your handicap index. Also, I’m nearly sure, every golf course should have a notice board fairly visible that will show you what your course handicap is based on your index. Or for an unofficial app, you can use Hole 19 but I’m not sure it’s 100% accurate all the time. While your handicap index is one number, you will have a different course handicap depending which course you are playing and from what tees. At the same course, you’ll have one handicap from the yellow tees a completely different one from the whites and then again the blues 👍🏻
Great scoring, greens looked very fast, keep playing.i know it's hard getting doubles etc,but you scored on every hole that's a great achievement in its self, you'll get there.
Yeah I’m aware hence why my practice swings and actual swings are miles different. Because once I’m swinging at the ball I feel it and rapidly try to close the face. And yes I’m aware that my practice swing should be a rehearsal for my actual swing 😂 but really I tend to just concentrate on making sure my grip feels comfortable 👍🏻
He kept saying the wind was gale force and I would look at his clothes and could see nothing. Then they showed him along side his playing partner @30:08 and you could see his partners clothes really flapping while his did NOTHING. Whatever he’s wearing appears immune to the wind 😂
Your practice swing always look mint. Try clubbing up and swinging slower like you do in your practice swings. You always look like you're trying to kill the ball after that nice smooth swing! The biggest thing I would say is watch your follow-through on your practice swings vs your actual swing.
Giday mate, I think you play very well. I am the same handicap as yourself, but still struggle sometimes like you. Golf can be a cruel game sometimes. Love watching your channel. Take care and stay safe. Mark (Australia)
Cheers Mark, really appreciate that and glad you’re enjoying the channel. Always nice to hear from a fellow high handicapper and someone who can relate to my ongoing hardships 😂 Anyway, thanks for tuning in and good luck with your golf game. Keep in touch. Jamie 👍🏻
i can't believe how this fella hits the ball without setting himself - two practice swishes then shifts over and immediately takes his shot. no wonder that he hits stinkers. SETTLE over the ball before hitting
@@DiaryofaHighHandicapper i am directing it at others reading. i didn't expect you to answer yourself. anyway, good luck but try to take a little more time over the ball. i was at wentworth last week and they settle over the ball before hitting. just a second or so
What country are you in mate? In Ireland we have official handicaps that can only be tracked using the Golf Ireland app but if you’re just looking for an unofficial way to calculate your handicap I think Hole 19 works pretty well 👍🏻
Hi mate, so you can only use the Golf Ireland app if you’re a member of a golf club and already have a handicap. If you’re just looking for an unofficial one to give you an idea of what your handicap would be, Hole 19 worlds perfectly 👍🏻
1st time watching it. I'm a 13 handicapper and I feel your pain bro. Really enjoyed it and I look forward to more content. Keep playing and enjoy your golf. Just remember, it's only a number.
Hi mate, yeah I follow his channel. I really like his style. Normally my putting is pretty decent. Just struggled a little on new greens that were lightening fast 👍🏻
Your issue is not that you slice or hook your driver, the Driver is actually quite straight....but 90% of the time you place teh ball exactly where the course designer has placed the obstacles like a tree, a bunker or so. Your issue is course management. If you played a round using only Irons and a hybrid you would score 88
I haven’t been to the US since 2008, long before I played golf unfortunately. Would love to get back over and play some courses though. Where are you based?
