a couple years back, I sold off my NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, TG16 and Neo Geo CD collections and i have no regerts (pun intended). Of course i still have xbox and ps and switch... the more modern stuff. I since replaced those older setups with flash carts and everdrives.
This is such a non-issue. Most of the people that are complaining wouldn't be able to afford it. I don't blame him for selling it easy. Rgt can be an idiot sometimes but most of the issues people bring up are things youtubers are required to do.
He had health issues and decided it was time. Absolutely nothing wrong with getting rid of stuff you don't need to take care of yourself. Doesn't really matter who he sold it to, it's video games not weapons or something shady. 😂
Consoles were supposed to be a viable alternative to PCs. Moderate price point device that is easy out of the box gaming you only need to upgrade every 6 to 8 years. The PS5 Pro is blurring the lines and every console gamer who is considering this 'upgrade' should hit a Costco and price one of the off the shelf gaming PCs they stock. Better option in my opinion but I am as sharp as a marble so take that into consideration.
I am not a baseball, football or basketball fan. My sports interests lie in other areas. i have had similar thoughts to your as these cards have gotten more exotic and over the top. Seems to me the companies are targeting the Whales with these card packs, not the general audience. Regardless I think this is just another form or permutation of the whole 'bred and circuses' scenario of keeping people distracted from what is really important. And yes, I too wonder where people get all the disposable incoming for A LOT purchases.
The first video was not that bad. I was 'watching' it while making dinner so i was more listening than watching. The content was what was important. Anyway, Gamestop is/was too big to pivot into this niche, specialized market. Their strength was always in size and availability of the mass produced product. Digital downloads took their legs out from under them as you stated. There is no way they can pivot to the specialized market and do it the justice the collector looks for so they will not be able to use it as a way to keep themselves afloat. Maybe a few stores NOT managed by the corporate mindset could pull it off but I doubt it. Keep throwing your thoughts out there.
@Tubbylumpy Thank you so much for your encouragement. It means a lot. And that first video's sound was wretched. 😆 I agree with you 100% about this move they are making. I may come across sometimes as being a Gamestop hater, but the truth is that I like having them around. I just wish they weren't being run so badly at the corporate level. I really don't know what they can do to right the ship given that the one thing that made them successful is being decimated by the market. One day they will be gone, and a lot of folks are going to be nostalgic for them the way they are for Blockbuster and Toys R Us.
The first gaming magazine I bought was PC Gamer and bought it for a long time. What I loved was you could get demo discs with it and it's where I played the early Duke Nukem game. I loved the game and ended up getting it later on. I was bummed out when they stopped selling it. One of the things I loved about it was the would cover games no matter how bad they were. When they interviewed Matt Stone and Trey Parker, one of them said they love the games that get the worst reviews. And in a way, so did I. I did get Nintendo Power latter on and really liked it. It had a lot of great articles in it and found a lot of them helpful. It was another one that I was sad to see go. But I understand why they did it. The only downside was they didn't talk that much or at all about game series that I love. While I did read Game Informer, I was always on the fence on that one. While they did have someone wonderfully written articles, I felt like it was more of an ad for a lot of games. The one article that really spoke to me was when they talked about the Japanese gaming market and the office culture.
@nicktwolf I cannot honestly disagree with you on its heavy advertising component, but given the business of its parent company, it's hard to fault them for it. It is still sad for me to see any legacy media stalwart fall into the dustbin of history. I can't imagine why they took down the archives, though.
I do have a lot of great memories with the Game informer Magazine. I've been subscribed to the magazine since January 2000 until this month when they closed down. 24 years of getting their magazine each month sent to my door. I knew that we were going to eventually lose all of the various gaming magazines as the internet has really killed physical print media. Why would anyone want to pay for a magazine, when you can get all of this info as soon as it's current with online websites and videos here on RU-vid. By the time you read that magazine, the news is old. It's the same with Newspapers, the stories in them are old as soon as you start reading the paper. I do enjoy reading through my old issues of my various video game magazines. It's like a time capsule that allows you to step back into the past during a time when we didn't have access to the internet. I did love the various Demo discs that came with several different video game magazines. They came packed with so many games that you could checkout before you bought them. I enjoyed that the discs sometimes came with DLC, like the Official Xbox Magazine demo discs. It is the end of an era and the sign of the times. Keep up the great work on the channel my friend.

Politics can be a touchy subject for some... for me, not in the least as I know I will not agree with everything another person says. I can formulate my own opinion on things and know it may not jive with others, that is what makes us human. We all can agree to disagree. Nothing is worth losing friendships over or getting into shouting matches over because of those moments of incompatibilities in views. I always like to say I was born a libra (October 7th) because i like to weigh all the information in a fair and balanced way before i offer my take. It's how I have managed to live my life and it doesnt always work out in my favor but some times it does. Speaking politically... it is rather amazing how more people dont understand the words that come out of every politicians mouth is not meant for anything other than personal gain. I truly believe the public education system has failed ever since I graduated (back in 1990). Gen X may be the last generation that can understand and see things for what they really are because we were raised to question everything we dont understand while the younger generation are told what to think and not question anything because it may offend someone else.
Like you, I have voted for Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Libertarians in the past. This probably won't convince you - the die is cast. I will quote what a Trump-supporting friend told me a few weeks back: "Trump is going to WIN! Considering your race, gender, orientation, and socio-economic status - YOU, will be just fine..." This statement actually worried me. Based on where I live (the future district of Lauren Boebert), I can vote for Mickey Mouse and it's not going to matter - Trump will win my district with 65%+. BUT, I've come to know this man ... I never liked him as a TV personality (running a show popular with people who have Sadistic Personality Disorder (SPD)) and I especially didn't like him as a politician considering I have friends and co-workers whose rights will be in his new Administration's cross-hairs. I don't like his connections to Epstein (some allegations are outright sick), and I don't like his repeating Russian talking points. I'm originally from the former (soon to be new) Eastern Bloc. So I've connected the dots - I see it in my expat community who are salivating at finally having a strong daddy in charge of THIS country, and I don't agree with their sentiment. I'm voting to simply make a statement - I can't vote for anybody but the Democrat on the ticket this time - even if I didn't chose her, I originally chose her boss. There are two Kamalas ... the one who was SFDA/CA AG and the one who was a Senator and VP. *Im hoping we get the SFDA version of her back* . I'm surprised you didn't find her record on homeowner protections from predatory lenders, criminal justice reforms (including skill training, reporting illegal immigrants who committed felonies to ICE, giving autonomy to local police departments based on their community needs, and going after gun violence in poor urban areas around SF), Anti-truancy efforts (bigger than it sounds - holding parents accountable), environmental initiatives, and going after Private colleges whose goal was to profit from student loan debt...
Both have positions I agree with, and both have some disgusting positions and moral deficiencies. As I said in the video, voting for either is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end. While I will vote for Trump, it's not with the enthusiasm of his glassy eyed cult hard liners.

If they made one, I would be interested in it due to my love of handhelds. The only thing that would make me not buy is it if you needed gamepass to use it. It would be nice if they made one, but just not sure how well it would work out in the long run.
Interesting review. Couple of questions I was asking myself: What system(s) did you test on? Is it multiplatform? What games did you test and do play using VR regularly? I have never considered dropping the money on a VR rig because I just have not seen the 'killer app' yet that made me really really want one. Thanks for the video!!!
I agree that money can be a big factor in it. When you only make so much a month you have to decide between games or rent and gas. It's why I buy mostly used games because I can't justify buying something new all of the time.
Hell yeah... both formats were more alike than different. I'd snag that if it was still available. Pretty uncommon. If it works... send it to me. I'd pay handsomely.
The Logitech G-Cloud is a nice pseudo portable xbox. It works via local network as well as internet connected and can play android games installed to micro SD card. I even use it for PS4 remote play that the Portal cannot do.

Just found out my in-laws are moving to Omaha Arkansas... i think that's over in Boone County. Im sure that is a bit of a drive from there down to Little Rock but if I go out to see them, I might drive over for a visit.
You had me with "Xbox" box lol. Don't worry my friend, you just need to tattoo of a giant Xbox Logo on your body somewhere, and pledge your undying devotion and loyalty to the mighty Xbox lol. I've actually seen people at Gamestop over the years with Xbox tattoos on their wrists or arms. You really can't have an Original Xbox collection and not have Halo. It's like having a Nintendo console without at least one Mario title. I got my copy of Qubed for only $2.50 at my local game store. It's been that price for years now but only raised in price this April 2024. My brother owns a 3D printer and he's had a lot fun with it. He's made me a few Xbox Logos, a small Xbox Console and a few other gaming related collectibles. It's sad seeing the gaming section of Best Buy these days in 2024. My local Gamestops actually have decent selections of games to choose from. I'm just not really buying that many games these days but I still go to them occasionally. Now is definitely time to get these Xbox One/Xbox Series X and PlayStation 4 titles before people go crazy for them in the next 5 to 10 years.
I appreciate you taking the time to film a video response to my latest discussion vlog. I never understand the people who have to live by the sword for these companies like Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo. It's not like the actually care about us as individuals, they just want to us to open up our wallets and steal our money at the end of the day. You miss out on way too much with this hobby by limiting yourself to just one platform or brand. Keep up the great work my friend. I don't get it either. It's just human nature to pick sides and dig one's heels in, I suppose. I have never seen a brand of anything, be it gaming consoles, tvs, cars, etc, that so impressed me I threw my hat in with them. Do what works for you in all areas of life, but crapping on what works for others is juvenile.
