Cheers bud. It’s one of them. When I plan my trips I picture how it’ll look with the drone and that was definitely one that would have looked amazing through the eyes in the sky
Excellent, shame about the clagg. Good to see that campsite as I’ve seen it on the map. Looks like you got good weather in part 2, looking forward to it 👍
Nice one Robert, looked a cracking boat journey, thinking about using that campsite when I visit those munros. You defo made the right decision on turning back, nae fun walking in the clag. Nice wee vid mate, looking forward to pt2👍 ATB Frank
I think the next time I go I’m gonna try and time so I can get a summit on one night then a night at the campsite again, it’s a cracking location. Little bit like the red squirrel in terms of not really feeling like a camp site. Aye, I’ve done my share in the clag and If I was in somewhere like the cairngorms I wouldn’t care less but not Knoydart. Those Munros need the view surely 🤷🏼♂️ At least there’s some views in part 2 😊cheers for watching frank
Looking a nice wee stip pity about the clag. Definitely made the right decision. If you're not bagging them what's the point walking about in the clag. Was thinking about doing something similar yesterday going to Arran for a couple of nights this weekend with a summit camp one night and campsite the next. But MWIS is saying 20% chance of cloud free summits but met office is saying cloudy with sun so not sure . They can never agree on the forecast nowadays and it pickles my brain trying to decide 🤔😖😄
Aye I know, it looked really good early on in the week then it all changed. Just felt it was worth holding off so I have to come back. I’ve been after a wee trip to Arran for a while actually. I’d be the same though, wouldn’t want to go over in a clouldy claggy weekend.
@@Moffatmountainadventures looking better now for Arran a chance of rain into early afternoon but looks good after that. Going to do the Pimmill hills loop on the other side. Cracking hills not to bust. Your welcome to come of you like. Getting the 8.35 ferry from Troon. Staying two nights might stay at campsite in Lochranza second night or head down to the coast for a camp.
@@stevenanderson5404 I would but I’m working Saturday. It’s so typical too. Was off last weekend and weather was poor, this weekend it does look not too bad.
Great video Rob! Loved the drone footage and that pitch looked spot on. I can’t get on with the blow up pillows. I ended up going for a memory foam one from Decathlon. A bit of extra weight though but worth it for the comfort. I ended taking the inflatable part out of the Trekology pillow and then filled it with my down jacket and some other stuff to make it feel like a natural pillow. Seemed to work. All the best. Gav
I’m the same with pillows. I’ve been using that memory foam one for a while and I love but I just wanted to try and create more space in my bag with a smaller packing pillow. Don’t normally get on with blow up pillows but in this case it’s so comfy. There’s a few pitches in that valley I’ve been eyeing up, was fairly happy with it 😊cheers for watching gav
Without going for a summit camp it’s as close to a wild camp ad you can get in knoydart without upsetting anyone. Nice for a change actually and as you’ll see in part 2 when you get a sunset there it can be spectacular
Nice one 👍was looking for videos down this way for ideas for a coastal camp and came across this one must have missed it😄Thinking of heading down that way or maybe Portpatrick for a camp on Monday night. Is there anywhere along here you can recommend that you could possibly stick the tent out the road as I reckon it will be busy this time of year. Castle point wer you camped looks good but will probably be busy with folks. Got a new toy I want to try and plan on chilling with Jax and some wine so don't want folk walking by every two minutes 😖
Yeah you’re right with castle point, you’d get walkers dead early. Aye there’s a couple of spots I’ve scouted for future camps along the coast. Have you seen my mull of Galloway camp? But further over but some cracking pitches there too. Whenever I go to kippford i always look over to the lighthouse and see this little beach area that looks perfect to camp. Be worth finding the path on the map for that
@@Moffatmountainadventures Had a look and Heston island looks good but depending on tide times. Low tide isn't till like 745pm tomorrow. Might just do the Portpatrick walk. Or might head into the hills. Weather's isn't looking as bad tomorrow night and Tuesday now. Got a new drone I want to test 👍
Only just got it a few weeks ago. There’s ventilation on the arm pits but it’s still a pretty warm jacket. Was going to do a video on this at some point as it’s quite a change of jacket for me
Nice one Robert, totally get what you mean when you leave something behind, I’m always raging😂😂, it’s even worse when you bring the drone and leave it in car because weather looks shitty then clears up beautifully when your up top and you miss some great drone shots. Thanks for the shout Robert👍 appreciate it. Yeh it’s a lovely spot for a wild camp and you got lovely conditions. Looking forward to your knoydart trip as I haven’t ventured into that area yet. Great edit overall Robert👍 ATB Frank
I had opened my drone bag at the bealach hoping to get some shots up to stob dubh when I realised I had no controller so the climb up to stob coire reanach was just me raging with myself. Literally no wind at all night, not a drop, not a whisper. Like when was the last time we’ve had that? 🙈. Same with Knoydart, we had the clag but little wind, just ideal drone weather. When I watched Mack your footage I seen a few other spots that I’m gonna use further down when I’m not rushing in the morning, want a spot that’s at the edge overlooking the a82 so I can get some long exposure shots with the car lights. Knoydart went completely different to how I had planned. You’ll see what I mean but I got there and actually felt more like u wanted to see inverie and experience the community as much as the mountains plus it was so clagged for my first day it made sense. Got one clear summit though, definitely going back. Loved that place. Can see why people leave them till last to complete too. Cheers frank, been enjoying catching up with your wee trip away too. ATVB, Robert
@@Moffatmountainadventures yeh that would be a great shot with the car headlights, it’s a great vantage point and not that long a hike up to the summit. Typical , no wind and no drone shots. Did the Aonach Eagach ridge last Sunday, brilliant experience 👍 Look forward to your next vid Robert.👍 Take care mate
Cracking night out, despite forgetting the drone. I’ve managed without a drone but may be my next purchase, the footage definitely adds another perspective/element .The anxiety I understand. I’m more worked up until I find a pitch and get set. Once the tents established I can then relax and sink a beer 😂 I’ve not done much in Glencoe but I’ve done those two. Im terrible with hill names, you have some knowledge of the surroundings. Looking forward to the Knoydarr trip, stay safe 👍🍺
I’ve had plenty of videos without it that have done well but this was for me. I love looking back at aerial shots, it’s why certain channels often appeal to me more too. The glencoe one over the 3 days was the best weather for the drone but even still I’d had like it at Knoydart so that’ll get redone. I often get the anxiety as the sun goes down and you look round and can’t see another light or not even a sound. That feeling of completely on your own. Never lasts long but it’s there anyway.
At one point I was genuinely feeling like I’d come home after this camp and not go up to Knoydart. Even now I’m still on the fence about the footage I got from there
Fancied a wee change from the other side of the road. Loads of others close to where the edge drops off too but I didn’t want to go any further walking wise
Nice one Robert, lovely place where you stay. Been down Moffat way loads of times when I had my motorbike. Great road up to St Mary’s Loch. Nice wee adventure on your back door, nice drone footage also.👍 ATB Frank
I remember top gear voting that section of road in the top 10 in the uk at one point. Maybe not so much nowadays with the pot holes but when it’s smooth it’s a bikers paradise. I can reach 3 corbetts from my door step if I put the miles which makes up for the lack of munros in my area. Something nice about putting the bag on from the doorstep and heading off. Cheers frank.
Sometimes the local ones are the best. Not any easier because they’re close and never to be underestimated. Good to see the new tent getting a work out. 👍
Aye most of the local ones are virtually pathless too bar a quad path or a stalking route so they do make for a challenge. Always enjoy it when I’m able to walk from hone
@@Moffatmountainadventures it’s the same here, very little in the way of paths. Most are quad tracks for part or just make your own way, some challenging terrain out there. 😁
I do like it up that side overlooking the Blackhope valley, was it wet under foot then ? Hopefully I will get round to a camp sometime soon 😂 you are so lucky being able to walk from house to hill in minutes Rob . Atb Dave ⛺️👍
Aye minutes 😂😂. Yeah it is handy when you just wanna walk without worrying about where to park. It wasn’t bad underfoot. I’m still not happy with that pitch. Felt there’s better up there but I was having an issue with my heel so decided I’d best stop. Hopefully see you out soon Dave, Gimmie a shout if you want company
I also took part in this event. It was such a shame that the weather dampened the plans a bit, but it was still a great thing to be a part of. Really cold for June though. We actually managed to see a few lights at 11 which we didn't expect. We were up on Arnison Crag with Alan (54 Degrees North). I don't think we would have been able to see you from where we were as it's only 432 meters. Really good video. Great presentation. Just subbed
@@boyzinthewood1 oh yeah, I’ve watched Alan’s video already. You guys were just abit too far out of sight for us. It’s how this years gone I feel. Very rare have I had a camp when the winds are low or the clouds have stayed away for the whole camp. Such a shame as it was a fantastic event. Cheers for the sub, I’ll give yours a wee look after work
Just been in the garden playing with mine .the 5 point shape lends its self to a 3 points grounded at 90 degree and the other 2 points held up by poles .this gives you 2 planes of wind protection (other than the small gap created by the cut away edges .) Add a centre support pole for head height and you should get 2 people either side of the pole . Top tip use blue tack on the end of your pole (gold one or treking .) And it will grip the fly sheet underneath very well and stop it puncturing
Thanks for sharing another great video! Looked like an awesome event. The clothing made it look like a winter camp though, the weather has been mad this summer.
Cheers 👋. Its been a weird summer. Even on the Warner days the temperatures still drop massively. To be fair, I could have got away with thermals but I love my down gear. Was a class night mind you
Was impressed with that. A touch heavy for today’s standards but it feels like a proper built tent. Apparently the event raised its target too so that’s all the more bonus
Nice one MRT are the super hero's of the hills 👍. I've been considering selling a couple of tents and getting something similar. After spending a good few camps in the Allak it's definitely the style of tent i prefer. Great having the two doors as it doesn't limited your views as something like a tunnel tent. Durston are bringing the X dome out soon so will see how that looks when released 🤔. Think I'll need to up my drinking game if coming out a camp with you 🍷🧉🍸🍹🍺😂
Aye think it was a great cause to be apart of. The Allak is some tent like. Get the envy when I see that. My first proper wild camping tent was a Vango tunnel tent and that’s exactly what I felt. I had to choose, sunset or sunrise. Ohh that’ll be interesting to see how it looks. Been fancying a Durston for a while too. Don’t worry, that was a special occasion. I don’t intend on carrying that amount again anytime soon 😂
Its crazy! I had camps last summer where I sat in shorts and T shirts before I get zipped in. We’ve pretty much skipped summer this year. I was aiming for the 2 man hubba but I seen this on a cracking deal when I was in so had to grab it. Feels pretty solid so far. Cheers for watching Dave, ATVB 👋😊
Hiya mate, really enjoyed that. The tents a lot like the hubba hubba, which was my first tent, I only stopped using it as the pitch inner first can be a bit of a pain when on your own, I think I had that in over 30mph winds and it held it own Nice one for the mention but more importantly getting involved in the camp, I think we managed 60/ 214, gives us a good target to beat for next year Catch you you soon Atb Alan ⛺️⛰️
Yeah it’s basically the cheaper version of a hubba I think. Think we got about 20mph on that one and it seemed solid enough. Loved it mate. Cracking event to do. Very glad to have been involved. Will definitely be doing the next one
I took the decision mid week to play safe with a lower summit, glad I did. You could see on our footage your spot in the clag. Tried giving you a flash and a wave too 😂
Brilliant wee micro adventure Robert, thoroughly enjoyed it. You’re right, it doesn’t always need to be munro hiking or whatever, it’s just about getting out into the great outdoors and enjoying our beautiful country. Very well edited video with some great drone shots. Ps that Cairnwell Munro is an electrical eyesore 😂😂 ATB Frank
