I got my 5007 for $100 with trailer with a busted mast. Hulls are not in good enough condition to refurb as a sailing boat so its going to be an electric river cruiser.
Cracker. Nice squeeze through the finish. Who had ROW, you were leeward but were you overtaking? It’s hard hard hear what you said (“is there water here”)? Looked again he was starboard you were port, cheeky.
Never done this before. It looks like a blast. (08:40- ) Why do you have to constantly tug and then let out line on the sail? Is this because you are going up and down waves? Thanks for the exciting video.
In order to keep the boat flat, fast and firing with maximum velocity, it is critical to adjust the mainsheet (power) whilst steering through the wind chop. Glad you liked it, go ahead and give it a go some time!
Well done Patrick 👍😁 I wonder if that little pink pig on the dolphin striker was wishing for a little more downhaul, a little more mast rotation & a little less traveler on the upwind though. 😁. Remember that little pig has been around the block a couple of times but, to be fair, he has never won a world championship. 💕.
The young fella on the helm was barely 61kg back then, don't think I could've had more rotation if I tried (definitely more cunno thought!) Poor little pig is collecting dust in the factory now waiting for her next adventure!
I raced through the '80s and early '90s. Wish I had some video record of those days. The only one I have is this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tlGiHmvJOxY.html
Great vid Paddy and Carmen ....... Carmen killing it!!! Paddy has some work to do - looks like too many tacos and bevvies!!! giving the H14 a front end load up. Still picking up some golden nuggets to fine tune my 80's H14 following my rebuild ...... cannot wait for nxt season's races..... On the road again to attend the regattas!!! ..... Like old times in the Kombi with the Maricat and then the Hydra ....... now the H14 a totally new experience..... FUN +
ask you old man paddy if he remembers a bloke that ran into the rocks at plantation point on a 14 many moons ago. I lived on frederic st vincentia for a coupla yrs 🎉
I've got an 81' 14 turbo in the states. I have been experimenting with all sorts of rigging. The original set up was pretty much perpendicular mast nearly vertical. Furling jib and short bridles. Ordered a chain plate and full modern rigging. Set the mast back about 2 degrees and noticed a sizable difference in performance. That's about as far as I've gotten. Ripped the main sail clew out. Waiting on a new sail to be made. 6 batten. I've ordered an aussie forestay kit for it. I can't wait for all the parts to arrive so I can play with all the settings and configurations. My brand new Nacra 570 mk2 may be getting a lot less attention😂
The wind was weird ^^. Quick tip: for both of you: don't rush to the other side when tacking, (wait for the jib to switch side before switching) It will help you finish the bear away phase of the tack quicker.
