Tango is a popular art, it is unique in its ways of connecting individuals with their own selves, with others, and with their communities. This channel was created to promote, learn, discover and explore the world of Tango. The old tradition and the new one, because of my tango I am who I am.
Thank you so very much for your feedback! I totally agree. That is a discussion we had with some other dancers afterwards. Very nice of you to take that time to help us improve!
I think it’s really helpful to do both roles when you start out as a beginner in the first classes. I think helps foster empathy towards each other in students. Of course then you would pick a role to go deeper with. Often beginner leaders struggle and beginner followers pick up the patterns faster and they get bored.
@18:38 before you have said this I had a thought about licensing the teachers and the huge problem with the teaching. The teaching consists of learning steps instead of character of a movement and history, music and all that very important stuff that makes Tango so special. I also think there is a need for gradation of the beginners: some come to tango with "two left legs", they need another approach than those from ballroom dance.
All great ideas, Fernanda! There are definitely parts of the dance that we can work on solo and not take time from the other person. Then we meet again... and connect at a deeper level 💖
Beautiful, Fernanda! I think that a silence, as the music calls for it, is the greatest gift we can give our partner and, as you describe it, can be the greatest gift a performing couple can give the audience. I once observed that a milonguero I danced with had respected some of the rhythmic silences in the music for the first time. He asked, "Did you like it?" I said, "It was as if you had given me a rose." Besos!
Such wisdom! For me it hasn't just been one wall, but a series of walls to conquer. I scale one to find yet another in front of me, but the rewards are so worth the pain and struggle that come from each new challenge. Thankfully, each wall I encounter is a little bit smaller and I can break through more quickly each time...This is wonderful advice to apply not just to dancing but to life itself!
