That was wonderful. I give this cast much kudos. Of course its not like the original, but to do that particular song, sing while dancing, on a stage, without a breather was phenomenal.
This is an absolutely EXCELLENT rendition of Good Mornin'. I've been trying to locate the rest of your show because I'm working on choreo for our high school production of Singin in the Rain' and LOVE that you DID use almost the original choreography and they performed it FLAWLESSLY, in sync, with beautiful arms on this number! I am using this for my own choreo breakdown. I have broken down the original Moses and am now looking to Broadway Melody. If you had an example of that, I'd love to see it. It has been underwhelming in most productions I've seen. FYI, I studied with Louis da Pron who taught Donald O'Connor. I'm amazed in viewing RU-vid when researching this show (I'm choreographing 3 numbers as a volunteer for a high school production) the hostile comments people make regarding using "original" choreography--the original was the BEST. Donen and Kelly were MASTERS and that's why no one can dance like them so to pay homage is the HIGHEST form of flattery. As I said on another thread, these legends would be proud to see their work inspiring new generations. It's the execution that is so hard to pull off. Your cast was EXCELLENT in this scene. All 3 are excellent singers and dancers. Well done! Gosh, I'd really love to see your Broadway Melody! :)
Thank you. I don't know why this is showing up under my husband's name. But I am Natalie writing back. I used it already and the show is now complete but I am a HUGE fan of Christopher Rice' videos--CUPS was one of my favorites! Thank you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! They did the moves from the original, but made it their OWN too, on a live stage. It is AMAZING to see this performance! The Don Lockwood character is as HOT as Gene Kelly's portrayal, while the woman playing the Kathy Seldon character is a better and more natural dancer and singer than Debbie Reynolds. That isn't to say that Debbie was BAD, but that she wasn't the "talent" that this woman is...which kind of fit the character since she was supposed to be a new and up-coming performer.
I agree with debbie not being a s skilled as this lady because she pro being dancing her entire life where as when debbie did singing in the rain she wasn't a professional dancer just commenting in case you didn't know.
...that is one horrendous wig on Gillian's head. Past that, I like that the choreography is truer to the original. And there's more conviction to what these folks are doing. You didn't reduce everything to some saccharine caricature with no substance like I've seen in other performances of this song.
