This is the greatest film noir it was so good I watched it twice in one day. Richard Conte is the king of film noir. Clever story & plot with many unexpected surprises. A bit far fetched & improbable but entertaining. I like how he turned the tables on the police & escaped in a patrol car & then stopped to help the 2 women fix their car. And when the car broke down they get into a station wagon & he crashes thru roadblocks & 2 motorcycles & the car is a total wreck & still running in the desert. Laughed my head off. Great movie.
Good location filming. Good story . My main gripe with the script is , why Richard Conte left it till near the end , to declare his innocence to the young lady ❓

Richard Conte what a guy. Good guy gets accused of a bad, bad crime. A couple of passionate kisses, a stolen cop car, a yappy dog, a nasty woman and a young lady ready to fall in love. Great movie with some actors that were around for a long time
Also, nobody commented about how a cop car pulls up behind him, both doors open up, both cops get out and walk up behind him and he hears NOTHING in the silence of the desert.
Are we just going to ignore how Wanda Hendrix’s dress color kept charging colors drastically from very light to very dark in the dessert when Joan Bennett drives away?

A thriller full of thrills, twists and turns, and an original ending. Richard Conte, no matter what role he played, was always top-notch. Great entertainment. Thank you!
