Welcome to the CF Cigar Box Guitars RU-vid Channel, A little history about myself. I am a musician with 15 years of experience playing all kinds of instruments! I fell in love with the cigar box guitar after my dad had purchased one for himself. I was constantly playing on it and wanted to build one for myself, so I did! Each one of my cigar box guitars and ukuleles are meticulously crafted with care and attention to detail. I hand-select premium materials, including authentic cigar boxes, quality woods, and durable hardware, ensuring that every instrument is not only a joy to play but also a piece of art in its own right. So why settle for mass-produced instruments when you can own a one-of-a-kind piece that's been lovingly handcrafted just for you? Thank you for supporting independent artisans and musicians!
I cought that on one of Jessy Tomas at hummingbird guitars videos and he said he was wondering why it sounded weird. Lol. Yup. You won't do that again!
You can get the piezo rod for 3 string from C.B.Gitty so ots not so long. But u can also cut them down as long as u cut in the right place (there are videos on that) that EQ is actually a preamp which really helps the issues you have with piezo pickups. Good luck
Spiritual looks more cutting edge. I used a under saddle piezo, to much highs for what I wanted. The fun part is building a bridge and then slotting it for the piezo. I used my drill press. Good luck.
I always been a fan of red. The blue box maybe easier to work with. Just a note on the EQ. Test out before you cut that box. I had one just like it and the piezo plug that plugged into the EQ was shorted internally. You can also test the piezo during this time before you put on bridge. Mine had all kinds of feedback and I opted for using our standard disc piezos, wired using the harness from the rod piezos. Just test first.
Not sure where he got his but you can get them from Malco. Make sure to get the collar. They have a minimum 100 order so you have to buy two. Make sure to get 23 kerf. Nice guitar and nice playing btw

@@timheller5929 So I was actually pretty fortunate. When we bought the are current house this shop was already in the backyard the previous owner used it to work on computers and electronics! I’ve seen sheds around this size and style go anywhere from $600 all the way up to $2000 it really just depends on how big of a space you need!
Hats off to Mark, a beautiful build. And to Caden, I love your playing, especially your use of harmonics. I saw your Puckett builders challenge CBG, and your footage at the SW CBG festival
Cayden, so glad you’re enjoying the guitar; and thanks for the shout out. It was our pleasure to meet you and your wife at the festival and I’m humbled that one of my guitars went home with you. You’re a very good builder yourself, and I’ll bet your #29 is going to be so much better than this. Keep on building!! Mark
@@timheller5929 RU-vid is a great resource! You can find tones of lesson videos I would recommend checking out the following people: Puckett Cigar Box Guitars Southernfire Cigar Box Guitars Uncle Mark Cigar Box Guitars They have so many awesome video lessons on how to play!
Your instructions are the best. I can actually see what your doing. Nice to hear this song because I've had Hallelujah stuck in there for a few days. Love that song but it begins to worry ya a bit after the second day. 😅
Carving the neck is my favourite part of the build. I use a rasp (not a Shinto 😢) to get the initial shape at the top and base of the neck and then use a spike shave to get the curve across the neck
