If your water taste salty. The very first thing you should do is flush your pipes. This is easily achieved by going to the water faucet that is futhest away from the water softener. Turn it on and let run for a few minutes. If your refrigerator has water/ ice through the door, use a pot and run it until you fill the pot a couple of times. Afterwards, taste the water coming out of the refrigerator. If it still tastes salty, flush a couple more pots out of it. In some cases this will fix the problem. Sometimes what happens is that when the system is regenerating, ( which is usually programed to take place in the middle of the night) someone might use the water, typically flushing the toilet. During the registration process, salty brine is drawn from the brine tank and fills the softener tank. The salty brine is used to remove the minerals that the resin bed has removed from the water. The brine is then pumped out through a discharge line in to the ground. During the regeneration process if the water service inside the home is used, it draws salty brine water into the service line of the house resulting in salty water coming from sources of drinking water. If flushing the pipes makes no difference in the salt content of your drinking water, then the issue is something else.

Salt causes tree and other roots in your sewer line to recede and wither. It won't help with grease... but neither will baking soda help with tree roots...will it? Do you have a simple, inexpensive tree root treatment?
Hello Josh, this is Uli from South Fl. I have a situation as when I look into my brand new bathroom (one month old). When I run the meter its detecting moisture at the base. We gutted the bathroom and there is no visible cracks on the tile or grout. Any idea what could have happened? We did not seal the grout, can this be it?
ain't that a "drain français" chimney? A sewer clean out would be inside with a "Y" so your main connect to the out while you have the 2nd branch of the "Y" to see/clean.
