When I first watched this movie as a 13 year old boy, I had to turn away from the box opening scene as I couldn't bear the horror and the mental scaring of seeing the head. 24 years later, and plucking up the most amount of courage that I have ever had to in my life, I finally decided to watch the box being opened with my eyes open.
If a moralist says he´s not above those he scolds, what does that say about the event? Would it have made any difference if they hadn´t gambled, cursed & danced nude for money? In the Seven movie they looked for motive. They thought the clues explained it. Doe talked about it in a way which seemed to confirm that. But what if it happened just becuse Doe´s employer liked to sometimes alleviate boredom, to display real power or to have a parade..
He totally won. He got through all 7 sins. Mills completed his sick game. mills may have lived but he’s mentally ruined. The smug fuck is right, if this was real, this would be studied forever,
I love that Morgan at the end doesn't even do anything to stop him. Because even he knows, that while it is "wrong" to kill Spacey here, he also knew as a man, as another human being, that there is nothing that could stop Brad from doing what he was about to do.
The performance and direction in this scene is stellar. But the music just brings it all together. The way the music builds until the point that John Doe drops the fact that she was pregnant. Summerset hits him. And then there is those horns blaring. Almost signaling that it's over. Mills won't be able to hold back anymore. Summerset lost the ability to maybe even stop John Doe. And John Doe gets to sit there in triumph. It all comes together to a horrifying climax. Damn do I love this movie.
When all three of them are in the car, when John is looking directly at David, William looks in the rear view mirror and John is also looking him in the eye, at the exact same time. It's like John is a non human demonic entity.
"It's disturbing how easily a member of the press can purchase information from the men in your precinct.".....SOMEONE IS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE BACK AT THE STATION!
Somerset knew there was nothing he'd be able to say to stop Mills. He was trying to persuade him not to shoot, but didn't even believe his own words, and Freeman played that fact brilliantly.
My ant bougt me a long long time ago in Switzerland two dolls one was blondie and another black just as it is in the movie' I adored such dolls' my favorite dolls
Lol in a weird way the allegations against Kevin Spacey actually enhances this scene. A rare instance where the art doesn't feel uncomfortable after the artist gets me too cancelled.
