Many smaller Retro Game Stores and even Comic Stores that sell Retro games still and will do!I got my battery replaced at one just a few weeks ago!All I did was ask and paid the guy $10-20
Looks great. Late to the show here, next time try Bestine on the label. It will not hurt plastic or the label. I use it to take stickers off cardboard game boxes, manuals and labels.
I soak my cartridges in Goo Gone as it doesn't hurt the plastic any and you have to clean the shell anyways and you can reuse the Goo Gone as many times as you need. The only issue is that Nintendo cartridges have a thick plastic film on their cartridges so it may take some soaking time to remove the label or you can try to peal a little bit off after soaking it in water.
Only if you sell the items as 'like new' or 'mint'. While it might ding a few bucks off if you sell them as 'cleaned and restored' or 'excellent condition with reprinted labels' it's totally fine. For personal collection reasons? You can do whatever you want with the cartridges you own, it's distribution/sales you have to worry about.
Is there a database of game labels that don't suck? I went to that one site, but they have only a handful of games.. and some of the labels aren't even scaled as if one has to do it themselves. I just want to print and go.
segaretro.org does have a lot of Mega Drive cartridge scans, but you might have to search elsewhere for the top part of the label. I think it's going to be a bit of manual work regardless, unfortunately.
Great restoration. I know some would ask why you didn't replace the screen with a backlit LCD but I like the original look and feel. Great job thanks for sharing 🙂
Not retro brighting the case or nickel plating the battery contacts is the reason you won’t get a like or a follow from me. But I watched to whole video….I wish you luck.
That's just the camera angle. There's another slot over the wires that you can't see. (Это просто ракурс камеры. Над проводами есть еще одна щель, которую вы не видите.)
That was a very nice restoration! However, I recommend that you get a laser replacement for it, as the pot tweak is really just a temporary solution for lasers that are already dying.
Thanks! I'm sure I'll get an optical drive emulator eventually. For these videos I try to restore things back to their original condition as much as possible, but there might be some upgrades in future projects. Some things just aren't worth keeping, like original Game Gear screens.
This kind of restoration videos are always great, but watching one for a Genesis console is even better! So satisfying! You got yourself a new subscriber.
I got the A/V replacement port from Console5. It's called "Sega Genesis, Mega Drive 2, 3, 32X, Nomad, CDX, X'Eye A/V Female Port Jack". For the power supply, any adapter that can provide 10v DC at about 1A with a center-positive 1.7mm plug should work fine. I'll put links in the description.
Forgotten Worlds was my favorite arcade game as a kid. The Genesis port is pretty good considering it was released early in the life of the console, but the controls are very different. What are some of your favorite games? Right now I'm working on the videos where I repaired the controllers and restored a few games for this system. Please subscribe to be notified when they're available.
Those times I smashed in Streets Of Rage and the bootleg cartridge of Tetris :) Good video!! I recommend if you turn the GameCube without that corner issues, some filler and a plastic paint of the color of the shell.
Well restored the console. Is it possible to add a digital output to the GameCube? There is an adapter that converts analog to digital signals, but it would be better if there was a mod that soldered the connector directly to the console.
There are certain models that have digital output, but I don't think there are any mods that add digital to an analog-only GameCube without converting from analog. Who knows, maybe someday that will change.
This is awesome. I subscribed. I owned several electeonic hand held games (some sport related and some non-sport related). I wish I had your skill set as I have a vintage Split Second hand held game that had extensive battery corrosion I wish I could bring back to life. At any rate, awesome restoration! I look forward to many more videos!
Restoration videos don't have music or commentaries during restoration. I have watched many channels. It's become a norm. It is working too. By the way, instead of background music, opening music far away (only very little heard) might probably be a good optional idea.
