U Fix It Garage is dedicated to paying back the RU-vid community by helping solve common problems. I focus on DIY projects and modifications to improve every day products. While I don't mind spending money, especially on quality American Made products, I believe in saving money where I can. While some degree of mechanical ability and common tools are needed I try to keep things simple enough that anyone can do it. I have a deep appreciation for the youtube community and hope that my videos help people.
Why did you replace the springs? Looks like they were super steering springs in there, BTW you can get the Moog ball joints for half the price of what SS sells them for
Uncle grandpa is not lying when he said fixed in a hour My starter went out in my 2014 Kia optima and I was upset bc I couldn’t start the car after a few I realized the starter was no good had to replace on my own bc I got the confidence from watching this video very very helpful thank you sir
Thanks for the assistance. I replicated this exactly, then it failed on my first big trip. I replaced the brace on the front by the seat with stainless steel. Now 200%.
On the P32 workhorse is there a power steering pump and also a brake “master cylinder” or are they both combined into one single unit for all P32 workhorses?
Could you do the follow up video about thread tension? You broke this video down so well i think people would really benefit from you doing the follow up!
Hell yeah🙌🏾I was able to change my starter in a walmart parking lot at 2 am in the morning using this video. Thank you so much you literally saved me🙏🏾.
Very useful nformation in this video, however about the part of removing and re-staking the input rod, I am not very comftable, I am trying the upgrade soon but I will go for the threading solution, you can cut the original input rod and run a 3/8-24 die on it, then you can get a input rod kit or cut and thread the old input rod, then put it together with a long nut. Be aware that the staked part is NOT an aluminum sleeve as claimed in this video, it is steel and the staking is very solid, back in time I pulled out an input rod using an equivalent setup and the pull-out effort was so big that the input rod ring became out of round
Great idea on how to solve the input rod issue. The sleeve on mine was most definitely aluminum. The tool I showed pulled the rod out effortlessly. Your way sounds easier than making the tool to pull the rod. It should work equally well.
My friend in another state used your video to do her starter. She's back to work and was able to make rent. You don't know how truly helpful your video was. Thank you so very much.
As an extra safety precaution, shove a pry bar into the coil spring from under the lower control arm. This way if it does go “boing” it stays within the control arm.
Oh no! There is a generic kit you can order and cut to length. You would need to know the length of the old rod. Unfortunately, I don’t have that measurement. The RV forums are usually helpful. Try Trektrax. There are a lot of guys there that have Workhorse chassis and have don this mod
Hey is this a pretty good way to store it for the winter? I'm thinking about getting a stand for inside but I'm hoping it to be sturdy and hopefully to get it up on the stand as well. Nice tips!
as a real tech don’t do this because he already loosed the intake might as well take it off you need to change the gaskets and the throttle body gasket
Strange that a “real tech” is watching my amateur videos. I’m flattered. All I can say is that it worked fine for me and many others this video has helped.
