I love old ham radio gear and have many videos I think you will enjoy. I try to give just a basic view of each one. Thanks for watching! Follow our listings on Ebay - username "tubegurl"
That is not a D - someone switched the case and the plate. The D units have a range setting that goes up to F. It's a common scam because D units are more preferred and get higher prices.
Be aware, these radios did not age well. TS50s suffered from dry joints in the DDS modules which led to intermittent faults. Fixing the DDS modules is not too difficult if you can handle a little bit of SMD soldering, you just need to reflow the solder on the ladder resistor packs. The more worrying problem is the high failure rate over time of the SM electrolytic capacitors. The SM electros fail when the electrolyte eats through the aluminum case of the capacitor and then flows over the PC boards and starts eating the copper circuit tracks. In my experience it;s not a matter of if the caps fail but when as they will all eventually fail and need replacement. Another problem I ran into was the need to use a circuit board connection extension kit when fault finding on the TS50, Kenwood did make these and once upon a time they were available from Kenwood spare parts, but that was a long time ago and I found that the kits are no longer available here in VK. Mabey you might have better luck in the US.
73 friends I have a problem if anyone can help me I just bought a ten tec Argonaut 509 which does not work its owner told me that he reversed the polarities of the power supply I repaired it in changing two diodes the reception is perfect the problem is the emission there is no RF signal output and the two transistors heat up a little. THANKS

Reminds me of the model 350 that I started with as a novice in 1973. It needed to warm up 30 minutes to stop drift! I bought it used from the general class that gave me my Novice exam at his home. The old days!
Hello, Congratulations ! I am a beginner in mobile CB. I have just finalized my mobile CB registration with a DX27 helical antenna (1m80) + MC KINLEY+ KL-203P. So I have a beginner's question for you.👇 You must start by configuring (tuning) your antenna in "Tune" mode ('Tune' button activated) to lower the TOS/SWR, do we agree? Then, when the antenna is tuned with the MC KINLEY Tx linear amplifier, I can return to "ByPass" mode (BPS) and use (modulate to AM/FM/SSB) my CB radio? Sincerely
Kenrich eagle 200 they came with 20fl6 tubes 1 driving 2 tubes will do 400 watts sounds like a jet when fired up. I have had serval of them in the past including the 500 / 515 / 525 ..aka MeanGenee Rf1160 .
Mint radio, this must have been a private owners unit. I hope you were able to fix the the issues on 80, 40 and other "quiet" bands. Was it capacitors?
Hello, i just saw this video. Thank you for posting. I just picked up one at a Salvation Army for a pretty decent price but it has no instruction manual. Would you be willing to share yours with me? This one is putting out some pretty loud tones, but I’m not sure what i should do to correct this. If you can help, that would be greatly appreciated.
I am almost fifty years old now. Since I was a senior-high student in the early 1990s, I have said to myself, "Oh God...I hope I will have a communications receiver. I want to listen in to shortwave radio stations well." However, in fact, it is only a dream that never comes true. Shortwave has been replaced by the Internet.
Thanks for this presentation of the operation of the Sencore TC-28 Tube-Transistor Checker. I started working in the Sencore service department in Sioux Falls, SD, after the factory had moved to a modern technology factory transported from the old industrial Chicago region. The founder of the company, Herb Bowden, was from the southeastern part of the state. While learning about each of the Sencore products, I focused on the repairs of the TC162 Tube Tester, since it was similar to those that my Dad used at his TV shop in Mandan, ND. Those 'Filament', 'Load', and 'Setup' switches, with the three "GO-NO GO" test of 'Shorts', 'Emission', and 'Grid Leakage', all simplified a serviceman's decisions whether to replace a particular tube in a home setting. While at Sencore, I was directly involved with the promotion of the famed TF26 "Cricket" transistor tester, with which Herb had simplified with similar 'Good-Bad' tests, but used 'permutations' of the connections to the three leads of the typical transistor with six push-buttons to also switch through the polarities and parameters. Yet, during a meeting at the factory around 1974, Tom M. of Chicago mentioned, "Service technicians are now encountering with both tube and transistor testing" environment. Thus, the Sencore TC28 'Hybrider' (shown above), incorporating older tube testing with newer transistor technology, at the time. (btw - I sold hundreds of TF46 Crickets in Ohio, and the Mid-Atlantic states.)
Glad you were able to get the 750CW. I had looked for years for one and bought this one last year. You can download a free manual here : bama.edebris.com/manuals/swan/750cw Good luck with yours! 73, John W7GX
k0dys.blogspot.com/2014/01/repair-icom-ic-2800h-control-head.html Cody repairs the ic2800, was glad to find him as my eyes are not so good and hands shake.
My dad had one of these. We both had callsigns back then too. I actually transmitted on his 520S once. I keep thinking I would like to get one. I should get one, if I am going to, and learn how to use it right.
This radio is very appealing looking radio. I am an medium wave dx'er. I wonder how this radio stacks up on dynamic range, image rejection, spurious signal rejection on all bands? How does it compare to the Drake SPR-4 and R8B in this regards?A owner of the HRO 500 said to make sure that the preselctor is tuned properly otherswise you will have issues with images etc. from strong local stations. I wish National would put a noise blanker built in to the radio. The PBT should be operable in all banwidth settings;not just in the 2.5 khz postion.
Hi, friend. Do you know how this station opens frequency? Mine only goes from 144 to 146Mhz and I want to have more open bands. Thanks for everything 73 from EA2BDR
