uh, Mr Porter hit the nail on the head, when he said "Ive watched this team play, day in and day out...and they just have good players that dont play as a team". Nothing else really has to said after that. Im a Padre fan since '73. I saw Ray Kroc and his wife, who took over after his death, as the owners. And Ive seen all the owners since then. And with Peter Seidler, the present owner, dying today...the thing that pissed me off the most about the 2023 team, was realizing they didnt give a damn or understand the bigger picture. That being, given Peter's health issues as well as all that he gave the city of SD and to the team itself, where his time and money was concerned, the team ignored his investment, minus the money he gave them..and they threw up their hands, when the goin' got tough. I may never have coached any sport you can name. But Ive played enough sports to know YOU CANNOT SUSTAIN A WINNING CULTURE IN ANY SPORT, IF YOU REFUSE TO PLAY AS A TEAM..OR PLAY FOR EACH OTHER. Juan Soto had the gall to say "we didnt want it enough", when he was asked they the year went so badly. And if thats the attitude they carry into 2024, Id SERIOUSLY consider selling the team, if Im Mr Seidler's family. Because NO PLAYER worth his salt, should even say that out loud. You can think what you want...but if you stand to make half a billion bucks when you hit the open market, thats not something you say to a reporter. You say that to your teammates.

Why is this so hard to figure out? No production at firstbase or dh the easiest positions to fill. Put league average players at those positions and they go to the playoffs

Altuve acts like he's been in that position before. Garcia is a damn good hitter, but he needs to stop admiring his hits like that. Just like in game 7. He stood there and watched his ball bounce off the outfield wall, and only made it a single.

It does not matter! He was on a team that cheated. He knew about it at the least, he may have used a buzzer under his shirt at the most. He did nothing to stop it so therefore he approved of it. I find it hard to believe any of the cheaters that were retiring that said he had nothing to do with it. If you want to believe cheaters that is up to you. He and Bregman calls themselves 2017 world champion. Do you?

The guy is obviously amazing. Have to wait and see when it's all said and done. While he's obviously not the greatest ever, as a Jays fan, Alomar is the greatest 2nd baseman I've ever seen. Don't think Altuve is quite at his level offensively and especially defensively. 10 gold gloves for Alomar. I mean...geesh. Robinson Cano is probably a better overall at this point too. As an example of someone current. I don't know....top 20 all time maybe? With the potential to be top 15 or maybe top 10 when it's all said and done? I'd say that qualifies as "one of the greatest ever".

You couldn't be more wrong - don't let the hate block your acknowledgement of fact. He was probably the only one that completely avoided participating in the banging. That's very widely accepted at this point. Kills me that there's so much hate for a guy who, physically, shouldn't be playing MLB... not that the hate affects his performance. Seems to do the opposite, actually. A 5'5" guy doing what he does on the ball field is simply unbelieveable. Move on, already.

It is a sports talk radio in San Diego that diminishes teams by saying they’re disgraceful they’re tomato cans. They have no business here in fact, one pitcher that pitched a no hitter against them after the game the sports channel radio talk in San Diego continued to degrade the pitcher call with hammer tomato can and yet these are other teams that are beating them they should look at themselves instead of degrading other teams and players. This is one of the reasons why I love to see them lose

I really just think this is the unluckiest team in baseball this year. They went an unfathomable 7-23 in one run games and 1-11 in extra innings. You could expect that if they lost 100 games and were just completely terrible. But they lost 80. If they were around average in those games they'd have lost 7 less, 73. They're in the playoffs with that record. The fact they're not better than that in the other games you could maybe attribute to clubhouse issues. But if they had made the playoffs and another NLCS we wouldn't even be talking about this. I think this gets one more year to work out, and if they don't then you make some major moves. They still have a lot of talent and a good manager. I'd argue though, maybe Hader needs to go. You need flexibility from everyone in a playoff race. If he wants to pitch that way, fine. Go make a bag of money on a bad team. They'll let him do that.
