Originally this channel was set up to support students enrolled in the Electrotechnology Certificate II Career Start course (Pre-Apprenticeship).
However I will be expanding the channel to include content to help apprentices and those who may like to see what is involved in becoming and Electrician.
A note to all handymen: Any electrical work performed outside of a training environment should be completed by a fully licensed Electrician. Please do not use the videos on this channel to do your own home wiring just to save a few bucks!
Very good video but where did the load neutral appear from? He just pulls it through from the rear of the box with no explanation of where that came from. Can anyone advise?
WHEN TOUCHING WIRING JUST THINKING THAT BECAUSE I TURNED OFF THE CRICUIT BREAKER IT IS SAFE WILL GET YOU KILLED. ALWAYS TEST IT IS NOT LIVE, THEN TEST YOUR TESTER.
The RCBOs (as they are called in the UK) have a captive neutral wire so that isn't required. Another difference is that the line voltage will be delivered to the RCBOs (or any other devices) with a solid copper bus bar, not a via a lot lot of links which is also connected to the main switch (which will be double, not single pole). However, that tiny box with two circuits is surely not for a whole property. We do have small units in the UK too designed for outhouses, garages and so on, but they are still bigger than that, typically with 5 DIN widths, and have connection terminal bars for earth and neutral. Having the neutrals and earth terminal strips outside the unit looks odd from a UK perspective. Is that normal in Australia? Also, they now have to be made of non-flammable materials, which basically means metal (that wasn't the case a few years ago). In a perfect world, now that RCBOs are so common, both neutral and line ought to be delivered by bus bars (indeed, even earth too) and then the whole lot can be tidied up.
The problem with electricians today is, they dont know why they do the things the book says do. They assume if the book said dont, it must be a terrible thing. You people should visit cuba, thats how the pros do it!
Sir are you able to answer 1 of my question please? There is a situation where it is not allowed to have 2 long wires joined together by merging the cores and taping around it... But if the situation have to use those two pieces of wires of 4 core 4mm 90metre long, how to connect them safely without breaking safety rules... Like can the male/female box be used with MCB? Or is there any other ways to joint the 4 cores of two long wires by something that is waterproof , fire proof, short-circuit proof... Please give suggestions...i will give u my email id if u want to give an answer. i will really be grateful to u if u please help.
Thank you so much teaching these and sharing information online. I’m interested in certificate II of Electrotechnology and hoping it can be my new career even I’m 35years old. I notice you have so many videos uploaded could you recommend me which part I should watch first? Thank you !
