I love the rant lmao For real tho, the amount of caution that LSS has with Art of War just feels so off to me. Would it be different if Art of War wasn't such an expensive card? I don't know but it is interesting to think upon. Totally agree tho on Taotao's rant on this set. Katsu died for Zen's sins and this set felt waaaay too overtuned.
I think for me I don't believe that AoW necessarily limits design space since it might be too powerful, but they actively use it as a card to empower certain heroes like Fai, katsu, levia, maybe boltyn with solar plexus etc. The issue is just when a hero takes it too far something needs to be done. Maybe AoW is just too iconic to mess with, and other levers need to be adjusted instead. As for card price/ensuring collection value, I wouldnt put too much stock into it. If in the future they feel AoW needs to go I imagine they'll pick a semi-decent time to do so when the card isn't at the forefront of the meta. Maybe, who knows.
A real problem of Zen is that the cards don't need to hit. They're all like: "When this attacks...". I want an Arakni contract that just mills the deck: "When this attacks, banish the top card of your opponents deck."
Flesh and Blood is a great game because over a game the decisions you make matter a lot. Good players win more often. Zen eliminates decisions mattering in probably about 40% of games. Unacceptable. I love this game and continue to pour everything I have into it, but MST meta is the worst meta I've ever played.
Actually this. I played Zen a bunch when the set came out because I had all the pieces and 2 of my friends needed testing because they were going to our Nationals, & it actually made me miserable. So many games went exactly the same way, my friend is playing perfectly doing everything right, life totals are either close or I'm behind, then I randomly draw up 4 cards & go "oh cool, you're dead," & throw my armour. Just felt like absolutely nothing they did up to that point mattered at all, & I hate those kinds of games no matter what side of it I'm on.
I love love love my bad Ninja Fai, but now there are cards that can banish my Phoenix flame from my graveyard makes an easy dishonor. Zen gives me that same itch, and even if he is bad he is still so fun!
I liked this video so much, i'm kinda new to assassin and listening to someone who understands the ins and outs of the class just opened up my brain. which i could chat with taotao some day.
I wanna say he lurks in the assassin channel on purple discord (skyfish), so you can prob find a lot of his tales there. Maybe after Amsterdam I’ll ask for another assassin video :)
@@SemNem1Nome Just a discord server for Flesh and Blood. I believe it's the largest one, and has a picture of Viserai as the discord picture, hence the name purple discord.
I haven't asked but I'm 99% sure he'll say "figure it out." I think most lists floating around are culminating to a similar point and is a good starting place, at that point it would come down to personal testing.
Suspended, not banned. But yes, same guy. You can still play lower level events, like armories and such per the store discretion. LSS has very uh, interesting rules regarding suspensions
I would love to see written content from Taotao explaining how to approach matchups with a decklist at some point. I think this kind of content is lacking a lot in the community in general, and having solid resources like this to point new players to is great.
That would no doubt be an invaluable resource, but I doubt Taotao is willing to do that type of content. I'm already massively grateful he comes on my channel with his time. As for written guides, I'd be willing to do that, but I unfortunately don't have the knowledge for Assassin. Maybe in the future if Nuu reels me in.
I think the use case for Siren's Call is actually for daggers. Leading dagger into Siren rips their blue and it replaces itself. Then you attack as normal. Yes you risk them not having a blue but I think that playline makes the card more efficient.
Very true, maybe that will come up big in a list. Zen combos overall can do a lot of crazy things, just can't wrap my head around whether it's good or not.
Not an Iris player, but it seems like it was a pretty big deal that he put the +1 counters on the Shimmers rather than Ode. I know you are supposed to put them on the less important aura, and it seems to me that Shimmer is much more important. Totaled it up and there was at least 6 extra damage that could have been done, which keeps you from dominating the last attack. Would you have cleared Ode first if it had the counters instead? Great game though!
