I'm an outdoor adventurer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can expect all sorts of hiking, camping, and any outdoors related videos in Utah and the surrounding area. In the winter you will definitely catch me skiing as well!
Firstly disclaimer that I am not professional I can only offer what happened to me. With that being said, I had that before too. The o ring replacement made the connection right again so no gas would leak and a fire wouldn't start. But if the regulator itself is worn then you might have to replace it completely. Be careful and make sure to heed the warnings on the product itself. Hope you can solve it!
I don’t know much about rooftop tents. I would worry most about the weight limit of your vehicle though. I don’t think I’d trust mine enough to sleep up there
Full timer here. My latest rig for 4yrs, a Toy Highlander. Helpful tips for newbies: #1 Remove the back seats #2 Do a "no-build" to save space & keep weight down (plywood is too heavy & hogs space!) #3 Use mostly soft-sided bags for storage (These also save precious space) MSR dromedary bags for h2o. #4 Rooftop cargo box. # 5 Small chuck box kitchen with backpacker's stove to cook meals in your rig. (Preparing meals/coffee outside is NOT stealthy or practical for long-term nomads. *Have a way to safely cook inside your rig. Backpacker's gear is your friend.) Happy trails.🧭 **Less is More!
Didn’t claim I came up with the idea! I have been a subscriber of Allison Anderson for years and absolutely love her content! Also, if you watched Allison’s video she actually got the design from a blog she links so it’s not really hers either. Regardless I linked both her video and one from Felicia Fullwood that I took inspiration from in my description. I made a sort of combination of both for my design custom for my car and I am happy with how it turned out! With any build you do it’s a great idea to research and learn about various methods that could work well in your own vehicle. Thanks for watching and for the comment! Hope this sheds some light on the process
Usually I look for BLM land or National Forest land where others have camped before. This means there is usually an established fire ring already made from rocks, but no other amenities
Thanks for sharing, Brother! I’m currently looking at all the troubleshooting videos on these stoves that I can; yours was a different problem than any I’ve come across so far, so I’m thankful to learn something new from you as well! I guess non-petroleum silicone grease is helpful for those parts as well. 😊
I've considered adding a tent of some sort for privacy changing. Usually lock the doors yes and then keep the keys close by in case me or my girlfriend needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night
I have a 2019 tucson and considering converting it for cheap glamping purposes while I look for some recreational land. nice simple setup man. looks like it's sub 1k to get into it with the framing and basics
Appreciate the kind words! If you want to go even simpler you can store items around the spare tire and throwing a mattress in the car without a platform. Happy camping!
It’s hard to remember exactly since that was a while ago. I remember Baker lake being super windy when we went so we avoided it. Johnson has a nice meadow area
@@HawkinSaeger Follow up question! If the back plywood piece is 40 x 30" long and the smaller pieces you are 8 x 30" did the board up top hang over after you took out the small cuts for the 2 x 4?
Hello! We may have the same car so I hope you can help me. I used a carabineer and it worked for about two hours. And then I woke up with my interior trunk light near my feet blaring. I couldn't get it to retrigger the sensor as closed! The BIGGER issue/question: why doesn't my dash "trunk door open" image go away? I just kept seeing the bright pic of my car on the dashboard with the flashing trunk. I think this may have happened even when the inside back light was off.
Oh no I wish I had a good idea. The only thing I can think of is to use the handle or reset the switch from the interior. Otherwise you may have to check with a mechanic
This is super helfpul. I'm exploring purchasing a Hyundai Tuscon which I will use as my everyday vehicle as well as camping. Maybe you say it in the video and I missed it but I'm guessing your bed isn't super easy to remove in order to use the back seats?
It’s actually not terrible to remove. In fact I designed it in a way I can fold and slide it all into the trunk. It takes a few minutes to set up/tear down. However I’m going to explore removing the bed platform now that I have a roof box for storage
If I remember correctly I believe we parked in the parking lot by the Upper Pines Campground. On Google Maps it is called Yosemite Valley Trailhead Parking
I went Car camping for the first time in my Hyundai Tucson. The only issue I had was a dead battery after the weekend. As far as I know there was no power draw. Have you had this problem and how did you remidy it. I figure it has something to do with the key fob in pocket
Are there any cons to this mattress? I was considering this, but I'm a side sleeper, and my hips hurt after a couple of days, so I'm a little apprehensive.
I’m also a side sleeper usually! I haven’t felt any pressure on my hips personally. The major con for me is the size. It’s a pain to pack with other gear
Flagstaff! My home! So glad you got to visit such a special place! A lot of people don't know about snow in AZ but Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet elevation and gets TONS of snow haha.
