@@blvckunikornI've been trying hamster style a little of late. It's a bit of a steep learning curve! Feels so weird on the fader but much better control with the record hand.
Q-bert in most videos I've seen, scratches hamster style with the crossfader. I use to scratch/dj/like that then had started to learn the traditional way which wasn't a easy thing to do. Lbvs
@@hunterkarr5618 I just wanted to learn in the standard way as well. Kinda like scratchin with your left and right hand. Usually one hand is stronger so I just wanted to practice in the more standard way of mixing and scratching. To each his/her/ own though. Whatever works for you 💯
I do boomerangs way better using two finger closed fader, I hate that I do it that way better than just using good ole pinch though. My brain is geared to move forward for autobahn
Did qbert ever study music? I bet if someone shows him how slurs connect notes and silent that cut the fade...a percussionist could read qberts writing But I completely understood the zigzag and can easily write it out on a bar line which if show to qbert I bet 100% he would understand it maybe even correct it if it's wrong.
I absolutely love the schematic Qbert Drew up. When I first started writing hip hop lyrics and more in particular lyrics for drum and bass I created a schematic with the key like a map with symbols on it I made up, everything. Cadence percussion, pauses everything. Great job of explaining. Skateboarding is the same way, you can have the dopest Pro.. but dude is horrible at explaining to you/teaching you foot placement, when and what foot catches the trick Etc.
@@Sheepblagger Lucky you. I had the VMC-002 with the upgraded plastic conductive cross-fader. I could blow on it to move it. Sold the whole setup (two 12s and the mixer) to pay rent like 10 years ago. Wish I never did that. Edit: I selected that mixer because all I did was scratch. Wasn't a DJ...just liked scratching. Didn't need that 2nd deck either to be honest. Oh I had two Shure m447s I had on them too...they no longer exist either. So sad.
@@Buschwick Gutting! All I do is scratch really. I'm not a DJ, I just like to mess about mixing and scratching at home. My 06 pro looks absolutely battered these days. The only problem with the vestax mixers was the faders dying so quickly. But I eventually put an innofader in it.
It gave me a brain cramp* There's another pattern that hurt my brain for a while (he made it look easy too) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CcJglJRICHg.html 150 until 155 ... BRUH
@@blvckunikorn ohhh no way I was just watching this guy lastnight. he's like a legend i think he invented some scratching techniques. only just found about that guy lastnight so there is a lot i dont but hes the best
@@KzeeAuckland it's all a matter of taste. Qberts style is suuuuper aggressive* intimidating to scratch around him. But there are ALOT ALOT of really really good DJs from around the world. Look in my playlist section, there is a "scratch" section, those are some of my favorite producers/scratch djs (turntablists) It's a rabbit hole* have fun💯
@@KzeeAuckland I've heard he got banned from the DMC championships for winning 4 years in a row, maybe it was three. If that's true that's something to be proud of to say the least.
The "d-styles" scratch he mentioned was the "see saw". i saw it in this clip ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-veL9R73zm60.html ) and asked Q what it was*
@@djfloda07 this is from 2006 or something, I don't talk to qbert anymore. Posted this to help whoever wants to learn or inspire others to start scratching
Here’s an excellent tutorial from dj shortee on her studio scratches yourube channel. Hope this helps you. She breaks it down much better than Q. He’s telling you the idea, but not breaking it down. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OgxiDFMhCN8.html
